Fujitsu’s FTR-K5 Series 1-pole, Form A PCB automotive relay supports faster battery charging while simultaneously meeting automotive vibration and shock resistance specification standards. It may be used in several applications, including on-board charging of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs) with a standard charger AC line, as well as standard chargers, vehicle to home (V2H), and package air conditioners (PAC). The relay features a 5,000VAC withstand voltage between coil and contact and a 1,000VAC withstand voltage between adjacent contacts. Despite a low (900mW) power consumption rate, it can sustain a 40A continuous power supply without switching. An ambient temperature rating of up to150oC exceeds that of any currently available power relay in the FTR-K5’s class, as does an 8mm insulation distance between coil and contact, while 32A 250VAC switching corresponds with 6.6kW standard chargers. The FTR-K5 comes in a choice of a flux-free or plastic-sealed enclosure. Fujitsu recommends the flux-free option for use in sealed charger units based on the relay’s operating life (30,000 operations).
