It’s as old as the hills this one…it’s in practically every people management training course you’ll ever attend or design. So why is it that still we see so many examples in our work of people managers and leaders giving wooly, unclear or non existent direction on team member objectives? Well that’s because knowing you should do it, even knowing what to do, is only a part of the picture. Actually knowing how to write it down, and some would say even more importantly being able to confidently run a good quality 1:1 meeting where these objectives are agreed, is so often lacking in many businesses. So if you want to nail down this unsung hero of great people performance, talk to us, we’ll explain how you can change the behaviour of your people managers, forever.

The situational leadership training focuses on developing leadership skills and adapting leadership styles based on the specific needs of individuals. Do you know how many styles are there? Do you know which style match what need? Do you know what is the best style to use? All these questions and more are explained in this impactful training.

How do you develop leadership skills? 1. Experience 2. Coaching and feedback 3. Formal training Here's a pithy summary of the right approach from Tim Suffield "You develop people primarily through experience, secondarily through coaching and feedback, and then lastly through formal training. What you want to do is create ways for the people you want to develop to lead the things that need leading so they learn by doing it, coach them through that, and give them feedback afterwards. Then repeat that loop multiple times. There is no point putting people on a course to ‘learn’ to do something you don’t actually have opportunities to give them to do." #leadership #learning

Leadership Training: Train leaders not just to manage, but to inspire and care. Leadership training should include modules on emotional intelligence and how to foster an environment of openness and respect. Leaders should be equipped to recognize the early signs of mental distress and to act compassionately and effectively.

Our Junior Leaders Program, designed for supervisors, begins with an online, self-paced course that intimately walks learners through specific and carefully curated concepts and topics that are aligned with Shangri-La leadership competencies. The asynchronous modules include experiential assignments that participants need to complete, document, and submit in order to earn credits. Each of the six learning modules is punctuated by a face-to-face debrief session with me to flesh out learnings and take aways. This is my favorite part of the program as I get to draw out realizations and light bulb moments (like a talk show host 😆) while assessing the depth of my learners’ understanding of the content. This allows me to reinforce, redirect, or reemphasize as needed to ensure learning objectives are met. #LearningAndDevelopment #LeadershipTraining

Learning new skills is cool. Do you know what is cooler? Learning new skills at your time, at your place, at your tempo. The Leadership Skills coaching program is based on three pillars: video content (that is short, focused, and interesting, so you consume it when you want), weekly group coaching calls, and closed leaders' community. You need only 90 minutes weekly to become a leader in 100 days. Agree?
