Momberger Airport Information’s Post

Flughafen Wien - Vienna Airport (Austria) has been given a deadline until 2030 to complete the construction of its third runway, as ruled by the Federal Administrative Court (BVwG). The decision comes after the airport had requested a 9.5-year extension until 2033, citing uncertainties in air traffic caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the court deemed this extension too lengthy, especially since an expert report suggested a feasible extension of only 6.25 years. 📰 More details on this story in the next issue of the Momberger Airport Information newsletter. ➡️ Sign up for a free two-month trial here: https://lnkd.in/g8SjE2pp Please type "trial" in the user instructions window. #momberger #airports #airportdevelopment #airportoperations #infrastructure #airtransport #construction #vie #austria #europe #globaleconomy #aviationindustry Image credit: Vienna Airport

This runway is mandatory to secure the airports competitive. In the last years, the main wind direction changed and we see more and more approaches into runway 11. this is a noise problem for the city of Vienna with the 3rd runway, this will not affect the city that much and is a way for noise abatement. As well we can use 2 parallel runways and stay on the safe side, if there will be an incident which occurs in a runway blocking. 16/34 fights more and more with strong crosswind components and this is a safety factor.

Durchaus nachvollziehbare Richtungsentscheidung für die Zukunft des Wiener Flughafens inmitten Europas👍
