Triaging decisions is not easy as it is a critical step in securing optimal patient outcomes. 👨🏼⚕️ By using suPARnostic® to aid triaging decisions, healthcare professionals can gain clarity on who should be discharged, thereby reducing ED overcrowding and identifying those who will truly benefit from hospital admission. This clarity enhances efficiency and improves patient outcomes. As indicated by the decision guide, emergency departments can safely discharge patients with a suPAR level lower than 4 ng/mL without risk of health deterioration or readmission, whilst patients with a level higher than 6 ng/mL should be admitted, indicating a potentially critical condition requiring hospitalization. Both postdischarge visits and the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit appear to be extremely underutilized among the older surgical population.
