𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮! Southeast Florida’s coastline is home to six ocean outfalls that transport wastewater directly to the ocean. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the South Florida Water Management District, and impacted utilities collaborated to create and pass unique legislation in 2008 to mitigate #wastewaterpollution and provide fresh water to its growing population. The legislation also includes a timeline to eliminate outfalls entirely by 2025. Read about the environmental and economic benefits of this law and the progress made toward eliminating ocean outfalls in our new #casestudy: https://lnkd.in/gD6GkmYB WateReuse Association

I have long believed there is a finite amount of water above and below Florida. A day will come when there will not be enough water to flush our toilets, water our lawns and fill our pools. Think it can't happen? According to reports compiled by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, that day could come within 20 years unless we take some costly and drastic measures to find new sources and conserve and reduce the amount on water we use. Read all about it in my latest post on Thebackstoryblog.com https://bit.ly/4ckGxSJ #climatechange #sealevelrise #Florida #water
