On this Human Rights Day, we pause to remember the victims of the Sharpeville Massacre in 1960. It's a day to reflect on the sacrifices made for the freedoms we all enjoy today and to celebrate how far our country has come. Diversity and inclusion have played a crucial role in shaping our nation's landscape, and the implementation of codes like BEE has been instrumental in driving positive change. These initiatives have paved the way for greater representation and opportunities for historically marginalized communities. Inspired by the exhibition and the ongoing fight for women's rights in the UK. #GenderEquality" 🙋♀️💃 The power of "Women in Revolt" at Tate Britain resonated deeply - especially as a father. These fierce artists reminded me of the fight still ahead. Did you know? ✊ Equal Pay Act (1970): Closed the legal gap, but the real fight against the pay gap continues. ✊ Sex Discrimination Act (1975): No more sex-based barriers in work, education, or life! But gender stereotypes still persist. ✊ Equal protection from rape (1991): A crucial step, but we need to end all forms of violence against women. ✊ Coercive control outlawed (2003): Protecting women from domestic abuse, but the fight doesn't stop there. ✊ Anti-discrimination laws strengthened (2010): Progress against sexism, but let's dismantle systemic inequality. Same-sex marriage (2013): Equal love deserves equal rights! But LGBTQ+ communities still face challenges. Yes, progress made - but the work isn't finished! We have been talking of #gender equality, #women #empowerment, women at #work and so on and on.... but still so little has been done. What are the #corporate business houses doing in this regard. The reasons may seem like excuses, but would this need to be mandated by a law....
