Local ground motion simulation using Salvus! https://lnkd.in/eqiYHivK Ground motion modeling is an extremely valuable tool for estimating local shaking intensity and identifying areas most at risk from seismic events. However, the point source earthquake approximation often used for distant events is generally not representative of ruptures on large, nearby fault planes.    The Standard Rupture Format (SRF) (Graves, 2014) was developed to define complex seismic sources on fault planes, giving a more accurate representation of the fault rupture. In this case study, we demonstrate the loading of an SRF file directly into Salvus, and the resulting simulation of ground motion through time, accounting for the influence of local topography. See the case study on our website for further details!   This work was carried out with Marisol Monterrubio Velasco, Josep de la Puente, Marta P. and others as part of the DT-GEO project.
