Lift weights and play sport doesn’t really work after the initial periods of training! As coaches and athletes we can learn a lot from Simone and more importantly gymnastics. Did you know some of the first studies of training and sport preparation we conducted in gymnastics? Understanding movement and breaking down the hardest things on the planet to perfect them? They learned along time ago that strength training doesn’t help their ability to jump, flip and spin. Why? Because it’s a non specific ability. Meaning it doesn’t help. We can learn so much from this in sports like rugby where there is an obsessive gym culture. Which I believe comes from a lack of awareness to the development of special motor abilities in RUGBY!
