In commerce, a profound transformation has unfolded—a shift from the relational to the transactional, from trust-based exchanges to commodified transactions devoid of human connection. Once, marketplaces thrived on the currency of trust, where relationships and personal connections wielded immense influence. It was a world where reputation and word-of-mouth recommendations held sway, where who you knew mattered as much as what you offered. Yet, as the tides of progress swept across the commercial landscape, the ethos of the marketplace underwent a metamorphosis. In pursuit of efficiency and cost-effectiveness, market dynamics evolved, relegating relationships to the periphery. The focus shifted from fostering meaningful connections to maximizing profit margins, from prioritizing individual needs to mass-producing standardized products at the lowest possible cost. In this brave new world of commerce, the human touch became an afterthought, replaced by algorithms, data analytics, and economies of scale. But as we chart a course into the future, it's worth pausing to reflect on the value of the relationship muscle we've lost along the way.

I was initially worried when we grouped together some of the key questions to form the theme for the panel talk at M-DAQ Global . IMHO #socialcommerce from a tech consideration, business strategy and settling payments for businesses choosing this channel is a space that is still figuring things out. From that angle and perspective of managing content, the panel could have gone a few different directions. Which is why I was pleased that we had a panellist working in the space of helping merchants manage cashflow in the area of social commerce. Thanks to teamwork and the ingenuity of some colleagues, when we were putting our brains together to see what network we could source from. And what a diverse panel we had.
