As the dust settles on MEDICA 2023, it's clear that the lateral flow field is not just evolving; it's maturing with a purpose. Reflecting on an incredible week at MEDICA 2023, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the myriad of enriching conversations and the inspiring individuals I met. The exchange of ideas and experiences in the life sciences community is always a highlight of my professional year.   Key Observations from MEDICA 2023 in the Lateral Flow Field:   🌱 Steady Development: While groundbreaking innovations were sparse, a consistent progress in technology and application is clearly visible. 📜 IVDR Feedback: The general consensus points towards the IVDR being costly, complex and slow, seen as barrier to innovation and nudging a shift towards less regulated domains like animal care and environmental testing. 🔄 Post-Pandemic Consolidation: A phase of introspection and realignment is evident, as the industry recalibrates strategies in the post-pandemic era. 🌍 Towards Sustainability: Conversations around sustainability in product development are emerging, signaling a responsible and necessary shift in our industry.   As we are part and creator of these evolving dynamics, what are your thoughts on the future of lateral flow technology? Announcing AgingBiotech.info / motivations (direct link: https://lnkd.in/gUCXx3Rr) a small list of the best motivations/justifications of the aging/longevity field from effective-altruism, ethics, economics, etc. There are now enough particularly notable examples of these that it felt important to organize some of the most significant. Suggestions for additions welcomed, but note that the point isn't to comprehensively list all such things, but rather to include a key core set of particularly notable ones that represent some of the best examples from each angle. [So for example, the old Longevity Dividend book is not included because (a) its economic analysis angle is now better represented by the much more recent Andrew Scott paper, and (b) it failed to be popular relative to most other books in the field & failed to have a convincing effect in terms of bringing resources into the field. This is in contrast for example to Ending Aging, which has enticed large numbers of people and a non-trivial amount of money into the field.] Note that this new motivations table is distinct & complementary vs the objections table on the site, which has counter-arguments to the common objections to the field. The new table is focused on reasons why money/resources for the field is so important *in the first place*: the good stuff vs the counterarguments to the commonly-presumed bad side effects. The things in both tables ideally but particularly the content of the material in this motivations table is stuff everyone in society should know!

Reflecting on the insights shared during the second session of the 'AI in Pharmacy' conversation series by Timothy Aungst, PharmD., Eric Chang, PharmD, and James Blackmer, one key takeaway emerged for me: the complex nature of decision-making in adopting new technologies. I loved being part of this conversation that highlighted different drivers shaping decision-making processes in Pharma. From intense competition to scientific breakthroughs, from addressing business needs to crafting compelling narratives, and from risk assessment to embracing innovation— a lot of food for thought for anyone building AI solutions for Pharma. #AIinPharmacy #HealthcareInnovation #AIinPharma
