AI ethics is not a one-time task but a continuous process considering ethics are not universal; they differ across cultures. What is considered ethical in one culture may not be in another, and ethical reasoning can vary significantly due to cultural norms and religious traditions. It’s time to acknowledge that Western perspectives dominate current global AI ethics standards, leading to potential biases and inefficiencies when these are applied globally without considering local contexts. Companies should regularly engage with local teams and update their AI ethics policies to reflect new insights and changes in the local and global environment.
