I always feel at home when a prospect tells me “I like to manage the wealth I’ve created for myself.” It’s exactly how I manage my money, through my core portfolio strategy, and it’s exactly how I manage all my client’s money. I'm aligned with my clients. There is a level of care involved, which transcends just numbers in the market. It comes out when communicating through the plan I've helped them create. My clients get a level of care they’ve never experienced before. A proprietary portfolio means that I have a tap on daily market changes. When markets move, I move, and when opportunity knocks, I can jump on it. It’s time consuming, but it’s flexible. When clients authorize me to have discretion over their accounts, I don't have to call for every move I make. My clients receive the same time, price, trade and execution with no favoritism. I don't have to interrupt their busy day and execute trades for those who answer. This ability streamlines my relationship with my clients. The tap on the market means I get to call my clients with updates, and not vic versa. Being aligned with my clients is important and a cornerstone of NorthPointe Wealth Management which I created and am building.

When you’ve been in an industry for 30 years, you either make a lot of friends or a lot of enemies. I’ve always had a knack for making friends. Instead of butting heads with partners and ISOs, I worked alongside them. While the underwriting department was busy finding reasons to say "no" to deals, I was hunting for ways to say "yes." Lessons learned: When a company came up short on cooperation, urgency and marketability, it was hard (or impossible) to help them hire salespeople. Not remarkable.
