The high-value consumer money transfers market (serving expats and overseas property buyers) has seen big changes since the start of the decade. I explored recent rebrands and acquisitions in the space for a new report. Overwhelmingly, we've seen a big shift to B2B payments from some players – such as OFX, through its acquisition of Firma and Paytron; Moneycorp, which is targeting its banknotes business; and PagoNxt (a Santander company), which dropped its money transfer app PafoFx to build B2B player Ebury and merchant acceptance provider Getnet. Banks are also responding to digital challengers such as Wise and Revolut through their own offerings – see HSBC, which launched its multicurrency Global Money Account in 2022 and money transfer app Zing earlier this year.
