Sr. Recruiter @ Presidio | Talent Acquisition Enthusiast - Candidate Experience Advocate - I help build teams who transform the way business is done for our clients.
Craig Turner is doing something right!! His "key takeaways" should be the same ones for all of Talent Acquisition AND Hiring Managers... Key takeaways: 1️⃣ Recruiters - as soon as you can tell something isn't right with a role, identify the reason why, gather data and take action. 🔎 2️⃣ Candidates are the best source to validate data in a new market (also using local agencies and online sources). Don't be afraid to be upfront and ask for their help/advice, people are happy to help. 🆘 3️⃣ Make sure you have the right data points to allow the business to make a quick and easy decision. 📊
Passionate about building exceptional talent teams for companies having a positive impact in the world 🤩🌍🚀
Last week we messed up. 😬 We started recruiting for some new roles for the first time in a new location and we misjudged the salary. I could tell something was wrong within a couple of days. 😓 Low number of applicants. 😓 Quality of applicants not right. To be totally sure (and to gather data points) I did some outreach and candidates quickly confirmed we were way off with the salary on offer. In the outreach I explained it was our first time recruiting for this skill set and asked for their advice. I always find people are happy to help and the best people to ask are your target audience. Two clear themes came back: 1️⃣ Salaries were 30-40% lower than they should be 2️⃣ Candidates wanted remote first not hybrid The good thing about Benefex is the ability to be agile and act fast. I spoke to the hiring manager and head of operations of said location, presented the data points I'd gathered, we agreed a higher salary and remote first (once a month in the office). Within 2 hours (!!) we'd course corrected. 🎯 I went back to those I'd done outreach to and set up multiple interviews. We also started to see a much more healthy influx of applications. 📊 #talentacquisition #candidates #talentattraction #hiring #recruitment

STATE OF THE JOB MARKET: Despite low unemployment (3.7%) and the economy adding 216,000 jobs last month, most large job boards report a 10%-20% decline in online postings compared to the start of 2023. Remote jobs, though still coveted, are down 9% and receive five times the applications of hybrid or in-office jobs. https://lnkd.in/gRvB9b8Y

The recruitment market is definitely tough right now with declining vacancies, but there is some hope on the horizon. Wales saw an increase in vacancies in 2023, while the South East of England reported a decline. With the rise of location-neutral jobs due to remote working, there are more opportunities out there. However, firms are starting to push for office returns, so it's a tricky balance for recruiters to navigate. Stay on your toes and keep pushing forward! #recruitment #jobmarket #remoteworking #officereturns https://lnkd.in/g3uCumYB
