Seeing odd referral website traffic in Google Analytics? Sites like seder.website and rida.tokyo are bad actors that have infiltrated Google GA-4 code and are showing up in website analytics around the world. Don't go to the sites. Block them from your analytics. Navigate to your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) interface and select the ‘Admin’ gear icon at the bottom left. In the ‘Admin’ panel, find the ‘Data Streams’ under the ‘Data Collection and Modification’ tab. Select the data stream that’s been affected by the spam traffic. In the details panel, click on ‘Configure Tag Settings’. Expand the options by clicking on ‘Show More’, then select ‘List Unwanted Referrals’. Here, you’ll add the domains you’ve identified as sources of spam, such as “news.grets.store” or "rida.tokyo" or "seder.website". Once you’ve entered the spammy domain names, make sure to save your settings. Give it a few days and look back at your data. Bad actors can switch things up, so if you see a new domain sending you traffic that is odd, Google it before going through the steps again.

You can get daily examples of these comparisons where Semrush’s data is just so off. So off. We’re talking words apart from what’s happening in reality. Choose your data wisely because it impacts the decisions you make and the results you’ll achieve.

Keep on reading! 💡💡 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 Do you know what's happening on November 5th, 2024? The US election. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 Trump vs Harris How many people do you think are interested in the polls leading up to the election? I asked two #SEO tools for the monthly search volume for "Trump vs Harris polls" and got very different answers. Surprising? Not. 📣 📣 📣 According to the market leaders for inaccurate search volumes, Semrush, the above keyword, has a monthly search volume of 12.1k in the US (most recent data). Really #Semrush? 📣 📣 📣 💪 💪 💪 When I asked #Similarweb for the same insight, the tool told me the most recent search volume for the above query was 368k monthly searches for the US. That makes more sense. Doesn't it? 💪 💪 💪 I won't go down the rabbit hole of Semrush's outdated and inaccurate data. I'll let you figure that out yourself. I'll stick around with Similarweb.

What to do when you see 200 conversions on Meta but 20 on Google Analytics? 🤷♀️ Why does this happen? What should your "one source of truth" be? Can you fix this discrepancy? (And should you?) I wrote a guest post on data discrepancies in marketing for the databeats.community covering the answers to these questions and more. https://lnkd.in/dCpHs9Z8 (And thanks for having me, Arpit Choudhury!)
