Inspector "The teardown is to see what's inside, things we can't see when telescoped or from inspection ports." After doing inspection for over 30 years, it is unusual to find cracks during a boom teardown inspection. This does not mean that the teardown is not productive. Damaged hydraulic hoses, leaking telescoping cylinders, worn or missing wear pads, internal mechanical damage, sheared bolts are some of the findings. Here is mechanical damage due to rubbing that was not visible externally. Action can now be taken before this groove is cut too deep.

Which of them would you rate as best after long period of operation when you see how they wear and tear? 👉 Bimetal? 👉 PTFE coated?  👉 Acetal coated? Any other type? Allegedly, they are all self-lubricating, but they live much longer when lubricated (greased). Have you ever seen them as non-greased in operation on aerial platforms or cranes? Which of them do you find best in operation?

It's crucial to develop a PM Checklist form and abide by it as it guides you as a Mechanic/Technician to inspect a car/equipment properly when brought in for service as seen in the video where there's a worn-out rubber boot on the CV joint that prevents sand, dust, and mud from piling up leading to damage to the CV Joint and expensive costs in maintenance if not detected and fixed early.
