Back then, Kevin stood out for his creative mind and his eagerness to support others in learning new skills. Today, he’s making waves in the sustainability and green energy space. Here are some key takeaways from our chat on the recruitment landscape in the industry: 🔎 Demand Trends: The market is hungry for problem-solvers, especially engineers with practical skills. Transparency and ownership are critical traits that employers are looking for. 🛠️ Skill Gaps: There’s a clear gap in dual electrical and gas certifications. Many professionals are reluctant to learn new skills, creating bottlenecks in recruitment. 🌱 Talent Quality: Unfortunately, the market is moving backward. Many call themselves “sustainability consultants” but lack practical implementation skills. 📜 Regulations: Government targets like net-zero by 2050 are achievable. However, the lack of specific training in areas like EV infrastructure is slowing progress. 💰 Salary Trends: Companies need to step up—paying top ESG talent requires competitive salaries. For the right roles, it ranges from £40k to £130k. 🚀 Future Outlook: The market is evolving daily, driven by financial incentives and social impact.
