📚 How to Use Block Quotations in MLA Style 📚 Need to include a lengthy quote in your paper? Here's how to format a block quotation in MLA style: ➡️ When to Use: Use a block quote if the quote you're including is more than 4 lines of prose or 3 lines of verse. ➡️ Formatting: Start on a new line and indent the entire block 0.5 inches from the left margin (same as a new paragraph). Do not use quotation marks around the block quote. Place the in-text citation (author's last name and page number) after the closing punctuation.
