📚 How to Use Block Quotations in MLA Style 📚 Need to include a lengthy quote in your paper? Here's how to format a block quotation in MLA style: ➡️ When to Use: Use a block quote if the quote you're including is more than 4 lines of prose or 3 lines of verse. ➡️ Formatting: Start on a new line and indent the entire block 0.5 inches from the left margin (same as a new paragraph). Do not use quotation marks around the block quote. Place the in-text citation (author's last name and page number) after the closing punctuation. Keep your writing neat and academic with this simple guide! 🎓 #MLAStyle #AcademicWriting #CitationTips

On our blog! Shawna Coppola writes, "Teaching Writing as an Authentic Act Using the Malleable Rhetorical Triangle" "The coolest thing about the rhetorical triangle, though, especially among critical writing scholars like myself, is its malleability. While the triangle is typically drawn as an equilateral triangle, representing the “desired” balance each of the three components of any rhetorical situation, I like my students to explore how the importance of logos, ethos, and pathos shifts and changes with each context. What I do, then, is present opportunities for them to (quite literally) play with the shape of the rhetorical triangle, depending on what text they are composing–or even consuming.
