If you have an older, established tree on your landscape, you may wonder how old a tree can actually get. Although longevity is generally a factor of tree variety and habitat, the oldest tree in the world, the Bristlecone pine, can live almost 5,000 years.

have you noticed that: there are hillsides & lower lying regions with lots of trees / forests 🌲🌲🌲 and do not experience landslides on the other hand, there are hillsides & lower lying regions with human settlement THAT experience landslides especially after rainfalls. my points: # ☝🏿 stop the wanton cutting down of trees for whatever reason(s). trees' roots consolidate soils & enables easy percolation of rainwater. # ✌🏿 resettle human beings elsewhere & replant / regrow these hills with native trees plus a mix of exotic ones with deep reaching roots. #landslide problem solved

What do you enjoy most about nature? Lake views, river views, ocean views... It doesn't matter as long as it's a view with water. And the best are at sunrise/sunset, in my opinion. --- www.DevilClip.com --- #naturelover #sunsets #sunsetoverwater

🆃🅷🅴 MORE YOU KNOW *sigh* Humans perceive natural resources as freely available and believe their needs outweigh ecological concerns. They view themselves as separate from and superior to the natural world, leading to a belief that nature exists primarily for human use and exploitation. What's wrong with collecting seashells? There are so many, and they are empty. Where is the harm If I take one to decorate my house or make jewellery? Shells contribute to the shoreline's natural beauty and play a crucial role in maintaining the delicate balance of marine life. Whether occupied or empty, these shells provide shelter, stability, and nutrients to various organisms, from tiny crabs to intricate microorganisms. Moreover, they play a pivotal role in coastal processes, such as erosion control (beach stabilisation) and create important sediment. While the temptation to collect may be strong, we ensure the continued flourishing of these coastal ecosystems through our restraint and reverence for the natural world. Do you really think you live alone? That everything around you is made just for you or exists just because of you? You've been cool'd! #becoolthursday

Mountain Oak Understanding the Natural surroundings of Mountain Oak Trees Mountain oak trees flourish in different normal territories described by higher heights and sloping landscapes. They are many times tracked down in calm locales all over the planet, remembering the Appalachian Mountains for the eastern US, the Pyrenees in Europe, and different mountain ranges in Asia, South America, and Africa. These oaks incline toward all-around depleted soils on slants or edges, where they can endure crueler natural circumstances, for example, colder temperatures and fluctuating dampness levels. They assume essential parts in their biological systems, giving territory and food to natural life species adjusted to mountain conditions.

CAN YOU CONNECT WITH NATURE WHEN YOU CAN'T SEE, HEAR OR FEEL IT? How then, can people learn to love nature? Which afterall, is what we need for people to do to care about it enough to support and save it. Our blog by naturalist, Kashmir Flint, exploring nature connectedness eloquently explains this. However, this piece in the Guardian, really highlights the disappearance of natural soundscapes and milestones from our daily lives and raises the question how can we connect our societies, especially our children, to nature? Not the impoverished urban and agricultural shadowlands of the present, but real nature; shifting the baseline back, to reveal what is really possible. Maybe the answer, at least initially, lies with the showcasing of nature recovery, á la Knepp, Cairngorms Connect, Rewilding Appenines, "Why Not Scotland?" etc. https://lnkd.in/gUA9Y826 https://lnkd.in/gkNxEEgM #Knepp #ScotlandtheBigPicture #WhyNotScotland #RewildingNation #Natureconnectedness #CairngormsConnect #RewildingEurope
