We are honored that Redfin included us in their article ‘Increasing Biodiversity by Creating an Eco-Friendly Yard.’ Knowing how plants interact with surrounding environments allows for a beautifully thriving, biodiverse landscape for wildlife and homeowners alike. We shared insight on plants like marine blue germander sage, which are drought tolerant but are often incorporated due to their attractive color and magnetism for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. For more tips, check it out!

#WildlifeWednesday: the #OysterMushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) is commonly found on decaying wood in damp environments like wet woodlands or along riverbanks. These mushrooms grow on dead or dying trees, including willow and alder, often near water. Typically linked to terrestrial habitats like forests and grasslands, the importance of fungi in maintaining healthy aquatic ecosystems, including rivers, is often overlooked. 📸 adrianam13

Every June 22nd, the world celebrates World Rainforest Day. For the benefit of future generations, the day attempts to conserve, preserve, and protect the rainforest. It's a day to promote efforts to preserve and maintain rainforests and to increase public awareness of their significance. Rainforests are extraordinarily biodiverse ecosystems that offer a multitude of ecological advantages, including as regulating temperature, providing vital resources, and maintaining a diverse range of plant and animal species. #WorldRainforestDay #Rainforests #June22nd #Ecosystems #RainforestPlants #Biodiverse #PlantAndAnimalSpecies #PublicAwareness #SignificantDay #RainforestDay2024 #SaveRainforest #FutureGenerations #ELearningEducationAndTrainings🌱

5 tips to help biodiversity from our houses 🏡👇 🍂 Resist the urge to pick up the leaves from your garden – they are habitat for many, from birds to butterflies 🌱 Plant! Do it before it’s too cold. Plants are a top treat for biodiversity 🦔 Get a little hedge for the little hedgehog. Hedges can act as wildlife corridors 🧪 Say no to chemicals! They can be dangerous for insects 🐦 Build a home for the birds. Tip: put it close to your window and enjoy birdwatching Let's follow these simple steps #ForNature! https://eu.smh.re/0Vu-

Rivers and streams transport water, organisms, essential gases, and nutrients across landscapes. They help recharge underground water reserves and provide habitats for numerous plant and animal species. They also help shape the Earth's features as they flow toward the sea. So, what happens when we encounter severely eroded stream banks? How can we encourage restoration to prevent further land degradation, protect habitats, increase overall ecosystem health, and ultimately increase water supply? Well, that's what we'd like to share in upcoming posts. More soon.🌿 #tobuildavillageinhaiti #riverrestoration #agrikilti #ayitiagrikilti

Today is #BiodiversityDay! 🌍🌿 💚 Butterflies and moths react very quickly to change in their environment which makes them excellent biodiversity indicators. They can tell us a lot about the health of our environment and ecosystems. 🦇 They are a vital part of the food chain and are prey for birds, bats and other insectivorous animals. 🌼 Areas rich in butterflies and moths are rich in other invertebrates. These collectively provide a wide range of environmental benefits, including pollination and natural pest control. You can give a boost to biodiversity where you live by creating a #WildSpace 👉 wild-spaces.co.uk 📷: Humming-bird Hawk-moth - Will Langdon

Wild animals are as vital for ecosystem services as vegetation but often forgotten. Different guilds help seed dispersal, pollination, pest control, soil maintenance and nutrient cycling. The whale conveyor belt carries nutrients from polar regions to the tropics; sea otters keep kelp forests alive thus enhancing fish stocks; burrowing mammals increase forage quality for herbivores, whose grazing allows grasslands to be carbon sinks; and much more. Our report for WWF, "Nature’s Technicians: The amazing ways in which animals maintain our world", is now published. The key message: it’s not enough to stop extinction, we need wild animals in abundance to supply the ecosystem services we all depend on.
