Welcome to Connecting the Dots in the great state of Georgia. It's Montina here and we are going to go back over these Savannah RFP for youth training and career development services. I'm so intrigued by this one. So I like to look in the Georgia procurement every single day. Just hop on in there, look at the start date and see what was posted. So this is where I'm looking. Let's look at this RFP again for the youth training career development now when I'm going through. Because again I sent this to someone, they have $1,000,000 budget, the funding source funded up to $1,033,383. This is also something to keep in mind. It is a reimbursement, it is a cost reimbursement. So be very clear about this. You are going to pay for the services rendered, you'll get reimbursed. So you will need to have some cash to participate in this request for proposal to participate in this program. So there are different program. Elements. There is a lot to it, but look at it here. Something very clear that they have on page 6. They're seeking responses for the following RFP's. But you can apply for all three, or just one. No preference or penalty will apply to those who've been in just one of the categories. There is a sole point of contact the purchasing specialist. And then I would suggest that you read through this OK. During this proposal evaluation process, the individual identified above as the sole contact point for any inquiries. Any violation of this procedure may be grounds for disqualification. So that means if you like, Ohh I know a commissioner, Ohh I know a council member, Ohh I know the Mayor, Ohh I know don't ask them anything about this contract. You cannot do that because it can disqualify you from this contract talks about the service areas and again, information the workforce. Or now here's something. Here's a quick tip. Say you say one man, I could do this, but I don't know that I could do it way in Savannah, Chatham County. I live in Fulton County. Well, why can't you live, friends, repeat and propose this to your workforce board and your accounting? OK, it's, it's competitive here. So if you have a workforce Development Board or not, again, this is about being creative, OK? These are things that you can do. If you see a problem and you want to solve it, why not? OK. So again, different information here, structures there again is a lot of information has committees here. So if you don't know about this board, you might want to look up the board, the workforce Development Board and look at their local plan and all their information. So that's why I do these videos because it's not as easy as everyone makes it seem. Oh my God, it's just all these contracts, there are contracts, there are opportunities, but there is work that's provided to also get them. There's work to bid on them and there's work to be done once you have them because you want to. Get paid on them as well. Alright, so if you have questions, let me know. Come up to the meetings. Actually, even on LinkedIn, I don't answer them, just come to the meetings. I do a quick 30 minutes every single week to help you connect the dots in the great state of Georgia. I see you in the next video.

Last week we had the privilege of attending a Future Talk event hosted by The Smith Family at Manor Lakes College. The event was designed to give Year 10 students exposure to a range of industries as part of National Careers Week.
What I loved about this event is that it was framed around story telling. We told our career stories and why we love what we do to small groups of students, who then had the opportunity to ask us questions about our chosen career path and industry. Each group of students rotated through 15 different industries from construction to agriculture to Vic Police.
The best question I was asked was ‘how did you manage money when you first started working and what advice or support did you get to understand how to manage money?’. I think this highlights that there’s a role for schools and unis to play in helping students understand how the world works and basic life skills that they may not learn at home.
Hopefully we sparked some interest in students studying Construction Management!
