Being bilingual is a superpower! Knowing more than one language has both short- and long-term benefits, which can start in early childhood. This infographic for early childhood educators shares research on the advantages of young children being bilingual and biliterate and includes supplemental resources on language development and early learning. https://lnkd.in/egVmbCyn

I love the “ home language “ concept, but if at home, two languages are spoken, which one would be the “ home language” both? Or the one that correspond to the main used language outside home?

You would be surprised at the number of teachers who still advise parents to stop using their second languege so their children learn better English. Research shows the opposite, children who have more than one language on average have a larger vocabulary in English than their monolingual peers, and if they also read and write in another language, they are more likely to read and write at a higher than grade level average in English.
