Good Morning to the Monzo Bank Social Media team ⛅ ☕ I spend A LOT of time on LinkedIn (typical recruiter I KNOW) and seen some posts recently of people bashing what companies / individuals use LinkedIn for. LinkedIn *literally* works to your advantage, if you use it properly. If you are seeing posts of selfies / 'personal content' that you don't like - are you connected to the right network? Are you engaging with the right type of content for your personal or professional preferences? Admittedly, some of my previous roles didn't allow me to use and appreciate LinkedIn in the capacity that I do today (I worked in Construction recruitment and my feed was full of site completions, tenders won and the like). I have had the same profile since I started my career. My Homepage is very different now to what is was 7 years ago. I get to appreciate and see posts like this, in an industry that I love. ❣ ✍ What works on LinkedIn for some companies is NOT going to work for other companies. Don't compare and don't discredit the work others do on this platform. Focus on building out your own niche ✍ If you don't find these posts from Monzo Bank funny, you are probably not their target audience. How to Show Warmth When You're Working Virtually

We live in a world where time never feels like enough. The endless emails, meetings, and deadlines blur together, and before we know it, the day is gone. But here’s the truth: you have 86,400 seconds today. Every single one is yours. How many of them have you used for yourself? To breathe, laugh, or simply smile? We schedule everything: calls, projects, even coffee breaks—but do we ever plan time to be happy? If you’re waiting for the “right moment” to smile, this is it. Use your seconds wisely. Start with a smile—it might just change your day.

1 indisputable fact in my opinion... revealed after some other stats about last week. 32 in person meetings, 16 bus journeys, 8 train trips, 5 different towns, 4 different hotel beds, 3 client dinners, 2 planes, 0 taxis, not enough sleep and more espresso than any human should consume. The indisputable fact - nothing replaces the value, impact and fun (yeah I said it) of meeting people in person. Like everything in life, balance is key, there is a time and place for in-person and a time and place for virtual. Especially in a more eco-conscious world. Many of us have seemingly convinced ourselves (me included) that virtual/Teams/Zoom is as effective; probably because we like the ease of it. My experience last week reminds me, that simply isn't true. I built my career from 5+yrs of 50-100 flights a year and many hundreds of nights in hotel beds (and other sacrifices but that's a different conversation) because I believed that you cant truly add value until you know your client.... you will never truly know your client until you have spent time with them IN PERSON!

We should practice what we preach. Empathy, especially in a remote team, is vital. But it's not about speaking empathy - it's about showing empathy by truly listening. Sometimes we can't even imagine the power of simple "Hey, how are you today?" Schedule informal "Talks" meetings 1-2 a month to give your team a chance to connect on a more personal level. But most importantly, they allow your team to see each other as people, share challenges and joys, and build that feeling of being a part of something bigger — a single team where laughter and support go hand-in-hand. Where everyone feels calm and emotionally safe 🙌

Ever been stuck waiting for a meeting to start? Last week, I joined a meeting on time, but we ended up waiting 10 minutes because key members didn’t show up on time or inform us. Sound familiar? At our company, we value everyone's time and follow these simple rules: ✅ Join meetings within 3 minutes of the scheduled time. ✅ If someone is missing without notice after 3 minutes, the host decides to proceed or reschedule. ✅ We educate our customers on this process to foster mutual respect from day one.
