Interesting day spent providing expert air quality evidence at the Gatwick Airport northern runway project hearing. Also interesting hearing debate on fundamental assumptions in defining future baselines as part of EIA. Lots to digest, in particular discussion whether an assessment in the year 2038 or 2047 should consider the more stringent NO2 limit values (20 ug/m3) which our EU friends look likely to adopt or whether the assessment criteria should be based on thresholds set 25 years ago (40 ug/m3) which may change the outcome of the assessment carried out by the applicant. Oh and the joys of uncertainty!
