I think it’s a well-known fact that the greatest growth comes when we have the courage to step out of our comfort zones. While a big step into the unknown came from when I left the financial sector to pursue my passion in video-making, my career has been crafted by these leaps into the unknown. In 2022, I took another big leap in order to visually tell the great, moving stories that inspire me - those that can only be told through film. Renaissance is the first film to come from this. For me, Emily’s story was mine. I think we can all see ourselves in her story in some way. It also represented a return to the medium of film that I had stepped away from during the pandemic. To take a vision and make it a reality through film is to spend month and years focused on the micro details to then step back and see the bigger picture. The process is both solitary at times and one of incredible collaboration with amazingly talented partners. Completing something of this nature and getting feedback from the outside world can fuel you for a long time. With that, to receive the Best Short Film award at VIMFF was such an honour and even more so, to receive it from such a respected jury and in Canada was an experience one can only dream of. ----------------------- Benefiting from contract work such as cinematography, documentary and unscripted work is a way to connect with like minded people, engage in collaboration and fuel up on creative energy.  This is why I look for opportunity in the industry.  If it wouldn’t have been for these types of opportunities I have received in the past I would not have met the talented people who help with my film work. Making posts like this are often a masking in the fact that I am actually looking for work and opportunities to collaborate with people in my world.  Learning and experiencing is the best part of creativity and too often we keep these things close to our chest.  For me, the experience is the pay off and with that, I am open to come shoot, help out, brainstorm, etc simply for the sake of fostering great collaboration. It all comes down to the experience and what came out of that on the screen.  Renaissance is a perfect example of that.  A passion project that is truly something worth sharing.   Please enjoy Renaissance:
