FSCA stands firm: Steinhoff investigation continues despite Markus Jooste’s tragic end. The death of Markus Jooste will not affect the FSCA’s investigation relating to Steinhoff, the Authority said on Friday. “The investigation will continue, as there are other investigated parties involved. The Authority will also continue to assist the Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) with any investigations they may have under way,” the FSCA said in a statement. On application by any person concerned to the court or, at the option of the Applicant and subject to section 56 of this Act, to the Registrar, the registration of a trade mark as a defensive trade mark may be cancelled on a few grounds, one of them being on the ground that the requirements of subsection (1) of this section, are no longer satisfied in respect of which the trade mark is registered in the name of the same proprietor otherwise than as a defensive trade mark. Looking forward how this will evolve in the future. Will the private sector be granted more supporting roles to the public sector, or will this be kept as it is now.
