Japan has become the fifth country to land on the Moon. This milestone marks a before and after for Japan's space history, which managed to land on the #Moon for the first time in history.
The #SLIM mission has the objective of proving that its technology allows it to not only land safely on an extraterrestrial world, but to do so exactly where each mission requires it.
For Japan everything had been going very well until the problems began. Landing on the Moon is not easy, but neither is staying healthy. Initially, the telemetry said that the SLIM probe had landed on the satellite, but confirmation that everything had gone well was slow to arrive.
Minutes later, the JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency explained that it has communication with the ship, but the solar panels cannot generate power, probably because it is incorrectly oriented, which means that it would run out of energy to operate.
However, as JAXA officials explained during a press conference, “there is still hope” that when the angle of the sun changes, the panels generate electricity again.
