Celebrating Growth and Opportunity: The Journey of Mandla Mafolo and Fortune Sishi at Plumblink At Plumblink - Proudly Bidvest we believe that attitude can be more valuable than experience. Meet the RESCO Team Steve Monson Warehouse Worker Middleton, WI Question: Tell me about your role at RESCO. Answer: I am a warehouse worker at RESCO’s Middleton location. Q: How long have you been with the company? A: I have just completed my 28th year at the end of January. Q: What do you enjoy most about your job? A: I truly enjoy the people that I work with, as well as the cast of characters I meet on a daily basis. Q: How has RESCO helped in your career development? A: RESCO, for the most part, has been my career. RESCO has made me better at time-management, helped me improve my organizational proficiency, and helped me strengthen my inter-personal skills. Q: What are your hobbies and passions? A: I have several hobbies, which include coin-collecting, antiques, and building-projects. My passions would be outdoor activities, with hunting and fishing being at the top of the list. Q: What is something people don’t know about you? A: Most people would not know that as a young man, I was a very good ball player. I played in high school, home talent, and in the city league. I concluded this run with 10 years of fast-pitch softball. I played competitive ball in Madison from the ages of 16 through 48. Q: What is something you can’t live without? A: My family, of course. However, a couple of nice fishing poles wouldn’t hurt. Q: If you could be any movie character, who would you choose and why? A: Probably Superman, as I always wondered what it would be like to fly on your own.

Lowe’s isn’t in the tire business, but they do offer a FREE AIR station near their “Pro” entrance. Several times over the last couple years, before Lowe’s even opens in the morning, I’ll make a quick detour to fill up a low tire on my way to the office. Other times, when purchasing a trailer of project materials, I’ll top off the tires. I’ve never seen this free air service mentioned in any of their marketing materials or credit card perks. It’s not their business to help people with tire pressure, but nearly everyone who visits Lowe’s drives a car. It’s a small, thoughtful perk that offers a much larger value to me. I’m sure it’s not a huge expense for them, but it’s something that makes a difference to me as a frequent customer. It got me thinking of the perks of dropping by my office. What perks beyond free coffee, soda, or water might I consider? What unexpected, tangential perks keep you loyal to a brand? Anyway, well done, Lowe's Companies, Inc. #ponderings #webuildapps

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY. I have always been the kind of person who believes, no matter what role you play, you have value and you deserve respect. From the janitor to the CEO, we all Play a role in the overall #success of the organization. I recall, many many years ago, I worked in the stock room at Zellers and part of my job was to make sure there were always carts available for the customers. One day, someone was speaking down to me because I was only a stock boy and that I wasn’t important. I ask if they had a cart for thier items, the replied yes. I asked if the products they were looking for were on the shelf, they replied yes. I told them, if it wasn’t for my team mates and I in the stock room, that wouldn’t happen. Honestly, if someone is working hard, takes pride in thier work and provide for those whom depend on them, that is what makes our communities great places to live. Also, by starting from the ground floor and working my way up, I have gained a certain respect for what I have received and take pride in the success I have had through my career. It also gives you a better prospective of those who are earlier on in their career and the path they have ahead of them. The moral of my post is, don’t deminish the efforts of others if you don’t see thier worth. Acknowledge that they contribute to the success of the organization and they too deserve to be recognized for that. What are your thought or experiences on this topic? Do you feel your status in life should dictate the level of respect your receive or do you feel we all deserve to be treated equally? #thanksfortheread.
