🛑STOP IT 🛑 Sometime last year, I had the privilege of hosting a hybrid event at the UN House in Nigeria, with participants also joining from New York. My role was to coordinate everything smoothly, up to the point where we were supposed to connect virtually to the main event. And guess what? The network went AWOL! I was signaled from the backend that we were having difficulties connecting. In front of me was a room full of over 40 brilliant young women and stakeholders, all seated with high expectations for an impactful conference. The next 4hours plus was dependent on me! There was no way the event could just come to a halt, so I had to think fast. Right there, I filled in the agenda and created activities on the spot to keep the momentum going! The entire team held their breath, but yes, the event turned out successful! I received fantastic feedback and made incredible connections from that experience! It taught me one thing: Every event has a purpose, and every attendee is a stakeholder in that goal. The moment you lose their attention, the chances of achieving your objective fade, leaving both the organizers and the attendees disappointed. Let me give you 4 reasons why you need The Excellent Compere (Renny Mo) and not just anyone: 1. Audience Engagement: A professional host knows how to capture and maintain your audience's attention, ensuring no one zones out or gets distracted. 2. Energy and Flow: They bring energy and a sense of rhythm to your event, making sure transitions between segments are seamless and engaging. 3. Crisis Management: When something goes wrong, a skilled compere can handle unexpected situations with grace, keeping the audience calm and focused. 4. Clarity and Focus: A professional host ensures the core objectives of the event are communicated clearly, helping you achieve the desired impact. Have you ever sat through an event where your body was present, but your mind had already checked out? #EventPlanning #EventHost #EventManagement #ProfessionalCompere #HybridEvents #EventSuccess #AudienceEngagement #EventFlow #CrisisManagement #CorporateEvents #SeamlessEvents #EventObjectives #PublicSpeaking #ConferenceHost #EngageYourAudience

Do you attend last second invites to audio or video events? Many of us have this issue arise and when they do a majority of the time we don’t simply because we have prior obligations such as having to attend meetings that are already scheduled, have a deadline to finish etc…. Regardless of what we have going on that’s set up before being invited to such events, sometimes we have some flexibility to attend while other times we aren’t as flexible. Sometimes we make time to attend while other times we have to pass on such an event regardless if we want to attend or not such events. I like many prioritize such things as a lot of the time we can not attend due to prior commitments that are pre scheduled and are top priority. Sometimes I, like others can take advantage of attending such events varying of specific factors such as what time they are being held and other factors such as geographical location which also is time factored . Regardless, I do try to attend various globally valuable events especially when I have the time to attend and even then sometimes I make time to attend by knowing what day and time the event will be ahead of time so that I can free up some time to attend if / when possible. Note: last second invitations usually have a low turnout for the fact we have things that are pre scheduled ahead of time and that can’t be rescheduled. It is also wise too , when possible to send invitations on such events ahead of time so that we may have the time to make arrangements that can allow us to attend. Sometimes we may get ahead of the day by finishing up early in which we might be able to quickly last second attend. #socialmedia #Linkedin #Bestadvice #Businesses

Have you ever wondered what makes an event truly memorable and successful? As a Master of Ceremonies, I've had the privilege of hosting numerous events across Lagos and beyond. Here are the secrets to creating an unforgettable event experience: 1. Understand your audience, know who they are, what they value, and what they expect from the event. Tailoring your approach to meet their needs is crucial. 2. Engage from the start. Why? First impressions matter. Start with an engaging opening that captures attention and sets the tone for the rest of the event. 3. Keep the energy high; your enthusiasm and energy are contagious. Maintain a positive and dynamic presence throughout to keep the audience engaged. 4. Meticulous planning is key. Ensure every aspect of the event, from the schedule to the technical details, is well-organized and executed flawlessly. 5. Be ready to handle unexpected situations with grace and composure. Flexibility and quick thinking can turn potential issues into memorable moments. 6. Adding personal anecdotes and relatable stories can create a connection with the audience, making the event feel more intimate and engaging. 7. End on a high note with a powerful conclusion that leaves a lasting impression. This could be a memorable quote, a call to action, or a heartfelt thank you. There are a lot of events out there to attend. This month alone, I know of half a dozen that various industries are hosting 😅 So, when hosting your own event, it’s more important than ever to stand out. At Peake Media, we work our tails off to make our events unique. The key differences in what we do? Well, I can sum it up in four points: 1. Using the Collective 🗣️ We don’t have our attendees talked at. Instead, we bring together attendees and our sponsor partners to discuss industry topics. They are presented with case studies and questions to work through at their tables, using their experiences, education and collaboration to further the industry. 2. Come On In, Sponsors 🤝 Our vendor partners make our event possible, so we treat them as such. They are involved in meals, roundtables and all activities. They are our guests as well. We don’t separate sponsors and attendees. Instead, we see incredible value in bringing them together to benefit the industry. 3. A Wow Experience 🤩 We know everyone at our events has a lot going on. That’s why we host them at 4- and 5-star resorts so they can relax in luxury and rejuvenate to go back to changing the world. One-of-a-kind experiences — from meeting a real-life longhorn to taking a tour into the Sonoran Desert — provides the perfect escape We want them leaving refreshed and ready to take on their daily tasks. 4. Deep Connections 🛜 It’s more than networking — it’s about building life-long friendships with attendees and sponsors. When you have an incredible experience with someone, you’ll always have that connection to fall back on. People make the world go round, so why not connect others who can help you learn and grow? Everything we do — from shared meals to hilarious team-building activities — is designed to foster long-lasting connections. I’d love to know: When you attend an event, what makes it a “wow” for you? #peakemedia #peakemediaevents #eventplanning

Tired of seeing the same faces on every stage? Let’s make room for fresh perspectives❗ 🔴 Ever feel like you're seeing the same names and faces at every conference? 🔴 Or maybe you've lost the excitement for an event because the speaker lineup feels all too familiar? 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙧𝙨, 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧: A diverse speaker lineup brings fresh perspectives, new insights, and keeps audiences engaged. While it's true that well-known industry experts can draw in larger crowds, relying on the same names can lead to audience fatigue and a sense of repetition. ✨ Take a page from events like #TED, where the focus is on the power of ideas rather than speaker popularity. Similarly, conferences like #HLTH avoid repeating speakers, ensuring each event feels unique and offers new insights. 🔴 Building a process for speaker selection—one that prioritizes fresh voices and varied perspectives—can transform the attendee experience. Sometimes, this means taking a chance on lesser-known speakers who are true experts in their field. What do you think? How can we collectively bring more diverse and original voices to our stages? 🔽 Share your thoughts in the comments ♻️ Feel free to repost this for wider reach and engagement in this very important conversation #HeardInAfrica #SpeakerDiversity #EventManagement #FreshPerspectives #AfricanVoices #SpeakerFatigue #EventInnovation #NewVoices #AmplifyAfrica #InclusiveEvents #GlobalStage #ThoughtLeadership #ConferencePlanning #EventStrategy #PublicSpeaking #DiverseVoices #20daylinkedinchallengewithhaoma

When you see an event you want to attend, do you: A. Book it straight away B. Think, ‘I will book it nearer the time’ C. Leave it until the 11th hour when you realise it’s less than a week away As an event organiser, I love the A people. But as an event-goer, I’m more of a B person. I understand the thought process, but sometimes by waiting too long, I almost convince myself out of it: ‘Can I really justify taking a whole day out?’ I will have so much to catch up on the next day’ ‘I’m not going to meet any new community members’ This was me with the Community-led World Summit. And I think it’s the same for many agency owners considering the AGENCYNOMICS Big Event 2024: ‘If I’m in a room full of agency owners, where is the potential for new business?’ ‘I should be spending the day working on things in my agency’ ‘How can I justify a full day away from the team?’ The thing is, when we get stuck in this mindset, we miss out! We miss out on networking with people who 💯 get where we are at, what we are doing, and can listen, support, advise, and inspire. We miss out on taking a step back from everything, giving ourselves that essential space to think, learn, talk, and build relationships—relationships that often turn out to be key to both our growth and well-being. So tomorrow, I will be taking that time out. Turning up fully present, ready to engage, listen, make new connections (Give me a shout if you’re also attending!) and enhance current ones (looking at you especially, Nicola Earle 😊) And if you’re an agency owner, why don’t you commit to doing the same at the Agencynomics Big Event in September? Early bird tickets here: https://lnkd.in/guQ6serD Never underestimate the power of your peers! #ProfessionalDevelopment #AgencyLife #PersonalGrowth #IndustryEvents #BuildingCommunity

💡If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to reach international audiences, this type of event should be part of your strategy... While in-person events have their magic, online events continue to be valuable, especially for organisations with an international audience. Supporting several of our clients to bridge continents, I’ve seen firsthand how online events bring people together in ways that transcend borders. If you’re no longer convinced about the role of online events, here’s why they’re still worth considering: 👉 Access for All: No travel barriers – whether you’re connecting with teams across time zones or bringing in speakers from around the globe, online events remove logistical limits. 👉 Scalability: With the right platform, there’s no venue cap. Your event grows as your goals do. 👉 Cost-Effective Impact: Online events deliver high value without the hefty price tag. The hype may have slowed in recent years, but online events remain a powerful tool for reaching global audiences without the high costs. Are online events still a key part of your event strategy? Today, I had the pleasure of moderating a round table on factor investing. While large events often grab attention, I’ve found that smaller, intimate settings like a round table offer key advantages: 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 In a round table, there’s room for in-depth discussions. Participants can dive deep into complex topics, leading to richer insights than you'd typically get at larger events. 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 In small groups, everyone has the chance to contribute. This fosters a balanced conversation where every voice matters, sparking valuable and personal exchanges. 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 The intimate setting allows for more targeted, lasting connections. Something harder to achieve at large-scale events. 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 Round tables are often more budget-friendly, requiring fewer resources while still delivering greater impact. A huge thank you to all the participants for their insights and great engagement today: Mariska (FD Mediagroep), Sevinc (NN Group), Arkady, Sabine (State Street Global Advisors), Bart (MN), Mark (PGGM) and Rik (APG), Manno. For communications advisors and event managers, a round table can be an effective choice. Have you thought about using one for your next event? #roundtable #host #moderator
