When One Door Closes, Another One OpensIt’s true what they say—when one door closes, another one opens. What I’ve realised along the way is that the people around you are the ones who help you find that new door and push you to walk through it.After being made redundant, I decided to take the leap into self-employment as a painter and decorator. It has been a rewarding experience, full of hard work, learning, and a lot of hustle. I found excitement in the challenges and a deep satisfaction in seeing the results of my efforts. It reminded me of the value of persistence and staying focused on the end goal.I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve accepted a position with RACQ. Their values—Show care, Own it, Embrace learning, and Deliver excellence—are principles I’ve strived to uphold throughout my journey, and I’m excited to bring that same mindset into this new role.This experience has reinforced the importance of having a strong support system. The LinkedIn video tab has arrived on my app. Wow, game changer. I did find myself scrolling down unimpressed by the content. Abit samey and nothing really stood out. Was I bit more critical as I was in scroll mode? Did I feel I was on Instagram or Facebook. Remember you have barely 3 seconds to engage someone on video scroll. Which made me think! BIG opportunity for companies and candidates to stand out and shine. SME’s, startup and scale up’s this is your chance to get your brand and culture out there to attract the best talent and business! Graduates- If you want a template on how to get to the top of any industry you decide on and the approach, then watch Tom Brady's Patriots HOF speech. My sporting idol, but more so because he lacked so many obvious, tangible physical skills that were deemed 'necessary' to survive in a sport as rough as the NFL. His work ethic has hardly been seen in sport before, his preparation and mental toughness, ditto. Graduates coming out of University who are feeling that 'only an Oxbridge/Ivy League candidate can get that role/opportunity', plse don't.
