From invisible to visible. The Just Transition concept is gaining traction from regional and national government. But for it to be implemented successfully it needs to be approached as a collective. Our work will see us working with many of our existing stakeholders, those living and working in our communities, local and regional government and policy-makers, local businesses from our own supply chain and social enterprises or charitable organisations that support local economic resilience or wellbeing to establish the collective resources we have to ensure the community can thrive in the low-carbon transition, not just survive it. Find out more about the work we'll be doing in 2025 to apply this thinking to our work: https://lnkd.in/eVCQsE6J #JustTransition #ResponsibleBusiness

Excellent article by Neil Pharaoh and Tanck especially in lead-up to next year's election. My favourite message: "The most brilliant government funding partnerships I have seen have been when organisations can bring not for profits, with corporate partners and donors, together with government around a project – it creates multipliers across the board and reduces risk for any one funder (and your organisation) – ask how you link your government advocacy to other forms of fundraising and what strategies do you use to bring them together?" #fundraising #governmentadvocacy
In an era of economic instability, effective government engagement is more important than ever for charities and social enterprises. Neil Pharaoh's latest article explores how organisations can navigate the challenges posed by a "wobbly" economy while strengthening their relationships with government bodies. Amid rising pressures on resources, this article provides actionable strategies to ensure that missions remain resilient and impactful, even in uncertain times. Discover how to bolster your advocacy efforts in turbulent economic conditions. 2024: The Year We Began Our Journey to Advance Our Native Hawaiian Community What if government contracting could be a powerful tool towards community health and healing? In 2024, Lauola Pono Foundation transformed that question into action. Launching our Foundation wasn't just about creating another nonprofit. It was about building a bridge between economic opportunity and cultural wellbeing for the Native Hawaiian community. By providing exceptional services to our federal customer, we are ultimately able to create pathways for real, sustainable progress with our charitable partners in Hawaii. This year proved that economic advancement and cultural preservation aren't competing goals—they're interconnected strategies that empower our Native Hawaiian community. Looking ahead to 2025, we'll continue to grow our federal contracting for-profit businesses to support our partners' health and cultural initiatives. Our vision remains clear: create transformative opportunities that honor and elevate our Native Hawaiian community. To our partners, supporters, and our Native Hawaiian community: mahalo piha for trusting us to walk this important path together. #NativeHawaiian #CommunityDevelopment #HealthEquity #LinkedInRewind #2024Wrapped

These types of reports are important. And even more important is what we choose to do about these declines. I do not believe hoping, wishing, and asking for charities to act better is sufficient. Charities have been struggling and hoping for better for decades. They are already trying very hard! Regardless, these trends have been occurring for much longer than the past ten years. Our independent, voluntary actions have not solved the problems despite strong desires. It is time we look to find innovate systemic changes based in policy. The change in the DQ is a prime example. Many large grant-making foundations did NOT willfully do better. Only due to a policy change requiring better did we see them raise their granting. We need to explore other policy ideas to empower a stronger sector. Pleading and hoping has proven to be insufficient. This is why GIV3 has started an initiative to develop a strategic plan for the whole charity sector to help guide optimal policy innovations. But we cannot do this alone. We need CanadaHelps, Imagine, and others to collaborate on real systemic innovation.

𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 Borders Community Action is calling on individuals across the Scottish Borders to step forward and help shape the future of local charities and community organisations. Trustees are the backbone of these groups, providing the vision, leadership, and oversight needed to tackle some of society’s most pressing challenges. Now, more than ever, they need your help. Why Trustees Matter The Scottish Borders is home to many outstanding volunteers who give their time, energy, and expertise to the third sector—organisations that focus on social, environmental, and cultural causes. These groups are the lifeblood of our community, fostering resilience and growth. Trustees are at the core of their success and guide these organisations, ensuring they remain sustainable and impactful. However, the pandemic took its toll, with many trustees stepping down and not being replaced. Without fresh energy and expertise, many organisations face an uncertain future. 🔗 Find out how you can be involved: https://lnkd.in/eAU4m-9G

❓Did you know? In philanthropy for development, you cannot walk the journey alone. The most impactful initiatives are often the result of collaboration between various stakeholders, including governments, local communities, and international partners. This synergy amplifies the impact of charitable efforts and ensures sustainability and cultural relevance. Building networks of support and sharing knowledge are crucial for tackling complex developmental challenges. #Give4Good #Giving4Development

1moIt's great to see one of the UK's largest Tier One main contractors setting out a clear direction. The transition to a low-carbon economy will be complex, but by working together and defining the where, how, what - we can successfully integrate decarbonisation opportunities into our communities and the built environment. Well done Morgan Sindall on your vision and passion 🌳 🌿 🍃
