A HUGE dedicated #KnowledgeQuad in Pontyclun has been helping drive quality standards and provide opportunities for the local community. This multi-purpose off-site space is serving three new school projects being delivered for Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government, and the Welsh Education Partnership Company under the mutual investment model (MIM). It was just a play of words between two Community Development hopefuls from Caloocan and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela. The phrase "Kayag-Kayag Strategy/Approach" came into stretch. It was initially an idea recognizing the significance of an out-of-school youth (OSY) at the community level in influencing his/her peer OSY to identify and eventually enroll to formal and informal schools. Now, a roster of students are trying to put flesh into this "wordplay" via their study entitled: "KAYAG NATIN ‘TO: THE CHALLENGES OF THE KAYAG-KAYAG APPROACH IN REINTEGRATING OUT-OF SCHOOL YOUTH IN VALENZUELA CITY INTO EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS" with the end in mind of firming-up possible strategies on the ground to encourage more OSYs to continue maximizing second chances to education with the help of their co-OSY peers.

I have been working in the social development sector for about a year now, and one thing I can confidently say is that education is the greatest catalyst for community development. Many of the challenges we face in communities today are deeply interconnected with a lack of education. In my recent article, I emphasized the importance of quality education and its current status in Tanzanian communities. One line I particularly love from that article is: ‘Undoubtedly, investing in education means investing in the future labor force. Education builds strong economies, improves livelihoods, creates well-informed citizens who understand political, social, and economic issues, and breaks the cycle of poverty among families. It is a source of upward socioeconomic mobility.’ When it comes to education, we still have a long way to go to achieve the development we aspire to.
