Did you know that we aim to become a zero waste company by 2030? In 2022, we established a new target to formalize our commitment to waste reduction. From sending all non-hazardous waste to recycling or recovery, to ensuring that no non-hazardous waste is sent to landfill, we want to make a big impact... good news is: we're in the right direction! 👉99.5% of our non-hazardous waste was diverted from the landfill in 2022. Who are the world's top recyclers? Our new report will show you! ♻ Take a look at our latest report, the 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, in collaboration with Eunomia Research & Consulting. Released to celebrate World Environment Day, this report examines the recycling performance of 48 countries, shedding light on global recycling efforts. 🌍 Key Highlights: ♻️ 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚 is crowned as the world’s leading country for recycling! ♻️ 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 dominates the top 10, with eight countries, thanks to their longstanding strategies and policies driving recycling investments. ♻️ In the UK, 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 leads at number 2, followed by 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐈𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝  at 9th, 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 at 11th, and 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 at 15th. ♻️ Even for the top recyclers, there is still significant potential for improvement in the recycling of municipal waste. ♻️ 𝐓𝐚𝐢𝐰𝐚𝐧 and 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚 join the top ranks, showcasing the importance of long-term investments in making recycling more convenient and efficient. The top recyclers share common features: ✔ Clear and strategic waste management goals. ✔ Convenient, widespread and separate collection of recyclables. ✔ Effective funding mechanisms like EPR to incentivize sustainable practices. ✔ Financial and behavioral incentives encouraging active recycling participation. The circular economy presents a compelling alternative to our current linear "take-make-dispose" system, aiming to keep resources in use for as long as possible. While the potential benefits are clear, transitioning to a fully circular economy requires concerted efforts from individuals, businesses, and policymakers. The potential benefits of a circular economy are vast, encompassing: Reduced environmental impact: Conserving resources, minimizing waste, and reducing pollution. Cleanaway’s 2024 Sustainability Report is here!  As Australia’s leading waste solutions provider, Cleanaway is contributing to our nation’s transition to a more sustainable future.  Our positive impact on the environment, our people and the communities in which we serve is made possible by recovering resources, protecting the environment, reducing emissions, and working together. Our 2024 Sustainability Report shares how we are living our purpose of making a #sustainablefuture possible together, every day, and here are just some of our achievements:  • We achieved a 5% reduction in our GHG emissions and generated enough electricity from landfill methane capture to power around 37,000 average Australian homes.  • We recycled 430kt of paper and cardboard, recovered 104ML of waste oil, and recycled and shipped 23kt of plastics to third parties, diverting valuable materials from landfill.  • Women now make up almost a quarter of our workforce. • We held 1,555 community education sessions across the country, engaging with Australians to raise awareness about recycling, resource recovery and sustainability.
