I love movies, and summer always brings some of the most action-packed, memorable films out there. A favorite from last summer was "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One." But these movies are more than fun...they provide excellent credit union branding guidance. Our On The Mark Strategies Marketing Coordinator, Sean Galli, just wrote a CUInsight.com article going over this exact topic. And yes, it includes a line from my beloved "Mission: Impossible" series. See what else it includes when you read the article (link in the comments). #creditunions #rebrand #branding #financialmarketing #summermovies

Greetings! Universal’s TWISTERS touched down this weekend with a bracing $80.5M in ticket sales. After five weeks led by animated family films DESPICABLE ME 4 and INSIDE OUT 2, the summer action genre stepped back into its traditional leading role. DM4 and IO2 were also solid contributors, leading to a weekend gross of $147.2M for all titles. TWISTERS’ surprising success took some of the edge off what would otherwise have been a difficult comparison to last year, when the dual openings of BARBIE and OPPENHEIMER powered the weekend box office to $311M, its best total of the year. Exhibitors will enjoy another thrill next weekend when Marvel’s long-anticipated DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE arrives. The R-Rated superhero matchup combines the forces of two beloved characters, the wisecracking DEADPOOL played by Ryan Reynolds and the nimble slasher WOLVERINE played by Hugh Jackman. Its opening weekend may be over twice that of TWISTERS’ this weekend. For more results, check out Dick Walsh’s Weekend Review. You will also enjoy reading Alonso Duralde’s review of TWISTERS, published in partnership with The Film Verdict. In this week’s Don’t Kill the Messenger podcast, host Kevin Goetz enjoys a conversation with DeVon Franklin, known for his work on inspirational films such as Breakthrough, Miracles from Heaven, and Flamin' Hot, as well as the BET series Kingdom Business. #twisters #universalpictures #glenpowell #despicableme4 #illuminationentertainment #insideout2 #disney #pixar #devonfranklin #kevingoetz #dontkillthemessenger #boxoffice #boxofficepreview #screendollars

Today, we're taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane with a review of a classic Disney movie that's perfect for the whole family. Meet the Robinsons, released in 2007 and directed by Stephen J. Anderson, is a visually stunning animated film that blends humor, heartwarming moments, and a touch of sci-fi adventure. The story follows boy genius Lewis, who creates a groundbreaking invention that gets stolen by the mysterious Bowler Hat Guy. Just when things seem bleak, a young time-traveler named Wilbur Robinson swoops in and takes Lewis on a journey to the future in his time machine. In the future, they spend a day with Wilbur’s eccentric family, uncovering secrets and learning valuable life lessons along the way. The futuristic world is vibrant and imaginative, full of delightful details like flying cars and quirky inventions that captivate both kids and adults. The movie keeps you engaged with its unexpected twists and turns. The quirky setups and well-executed payoffs make for an exciting ride. The central mystery surrounding Lewis’s invention and the Robinson family’s secrets adds depth to the story. Meet the Robinsons emphasizes resilience, family bonds, and the importance of embracing failure. It encourages a growth mindset, showing that mistakes are just opportunities for improvement. Certified Product Strategist - I conceive high-level plans which outlines product goals while championing organisation objectives.
In the spirit of this season where we all sit back and reflect on how we lived the past 364 days or even more. I recall a statement from a John Lennon song; "Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans". Life is so often unfair at best, but we must constantly seek methods to turn the unjust ways of the universe into a punch line, just like the great people of ALAMO who took their failures and turned them into rallying cries during the Battle of ALAMO 1836. Acceptance of the world’s inconsistency on the fairness front grants us the ability to focus on the good we have been given; to turn the negative into a beautiful inside joke that can be cast aside or make sense of things that will never be fair. For adults having a tough time finding their inner spark and teens distracted by the bright colors, i recommend this 2020 animated film SOUL by Pixar. As we prepare for another 365 days trip around the sun, do not let time pass you by going after a mistaken sense of success.

January has been a slow month so far (not a bad thing, it's winter after all!) so I had coffee with a friend the other day who encouraged me to reach out to someone that I admired in the industry. 🎥 Rowan was top of my list! Not only did Rowan give me over an hour of his time, he was kind enough to share insights into the video production company he runs, Southpoint Films and the ups and downs over the past 10 years. What a legend! My main takeaway from the 303 words that I wrote down from our chat is "don't rush". There's so much competition/ comparison/ pressure, especially on places like LinkedIn and other social platforms. I found it so refreshing to hear that his growth strategy has been long, intentional, incremental and exactly what he was made to do. Reminded me of the tortoise vs the hare. I want to be like Rowan when I grow up. (Even though he is 8 years my junior) 🌳 Be more Rowan 🚂 Take the slow train ❌ Say no to comparison #videoproduction #filmmaking #smallbusinessowners
