As the final hours of our Wefunder campaign draw to a close, I find myself reflecting on the last 16 months since we first started pitching investors on our company. Yes, it’s taken us that long to raise roughly 80% of our - ambitious - goal for our seed round. Maybe it was naïveté, or an increasingly difficult startup investing landscape, or being a small team in the middle of an expansion, unable to devote 90% of our time on the fundraise. But we’re here, at the finish line and I’m full of gratitude! I’m grateful to have over 120 individuals and several institutions that have put their trust in the form of capital into a business that Danielle and I started as a passion project on our kitchen counter. I’m grateful for incredible teammates - Patrick and Lisa - that constantly step up to the plate and put in extra effort to help Elixir continue to move in the right direction. I’m grateful to be in Louisville, Kentucky, a city that has a one-of-a-kind partnership that gives local startups access to capital. The Wefunder <> Render Capital match. I am impressed and can see that your company is set up well, fundamentally speaking. It's hard to believe we're already in March! The start of 2024 has been an exciting time for the sector. In Q4 of last year, talk of investor confidence returning to the sector became more frequent, especially around the time of the Jefferies conference. This momentum continued into January of 2024 at J.P. Morgan. The question on everyone's minds was when the impact of this confidence would be felt. At Compass Executives, we've experienced this firsthand with an increasing number of new mandates and clients beginning to plan their next growth phases. I believe this is due to three key reasons: 1) Acquisitions from big pharma have given investors significant ROI, and an opportunity to recycle funds back into the sector. 🔬 2) Public markets trending positively, with the S&P Biotech ETF (XBI) reaching its highest price in almost 2 years. 💲 [see image!] 3) A rebound of IPOs in 2024, and an expectation that interest rates will fall as the year progresses. 💻 Here's to more positive news and a great year ahead! 😀
