In a delightful turn of events that has cybercriminals everywhere shaking in their boots, the FBI has recovered over 7,000 decryption keys from the LockBit ransomware gang. That's right, the Feds are playing digital Robin Hood, returning stolen data to its rightful owners (for free!). This is a major win in the fight against ransomware, but it also highlights the importance of proactive cybersecurity measures. After all, who wants to rely on the FBI's good mood to recover their data? Let's make sure our systems are as secure as Fort Knox, so we don't become the next cautionary tale. #cybersecurity #ransomware #databreach #fbi #lockbit

These days, hackers are no longer just encrypting your data and demanding a ransom. They're upping the ante with new tactics, like double extortion. In a double extortion attack, cybercriminals threaten to leak and sell data on the dark web. This practice has now evolved into triple and multiple extortion, as ransomware gangs seek out new ways of pressurizing their victims. Learn how double, triple, and multiple extortion attacks work, and what you can do to protect your organization: https://hubs.la/Q02sZSTY0 #cybersecurity #ransomware #doubleextortion

Did you know that the first ransomware attack ever recorded was in 1989? 🤔 The AIDS Trojan, also known as the PC Cyborg virus, was delivered on a floppy disk that was disguised as a survey about AIDS. Once the disk was inserted into a computer, the malware would encrypt the names of all the files on the C drive and demand a ransom of $189 or $378 to decrypt them. The AIDS Trojan was not very sophisticated, and it was soon cracked by security researchers. However, it is still considered to be the first ransomware attack, and it paved the way for the more sophisticated ransomware attacks that we see today.
