The Morris County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit (ESU) and the Morris Township Fire Department endured below-freezing temperatures at Sunrise Lake in Lewis Morris County Park this week to conduct a critical ice rescue training drill, focused on enhancing emergency preparedness and ensuring first responders are ready to save lives when every second counts. “Morris County residents deserve the highest level of protection, and that means training under real-world conditions,” said Sheriff James M. Gannon. “It’s zero degrees, and we’re out here testing our specialized equipment and honing our skills because emergencies don’t wait for ideal circumstances. Our mission is to save lives, and today’s collaboration with the Morris Township Fire Department strengthens that commitment.” https://ow.ly/AZrw50UMT2e

************NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2024*********** National Fire Prevention Week is celebrated each year during the week of October 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. Folklore says that the incident began the night of October 8 in a barn owned by Patrick and Catherine O’Leary. Regardless of the actual cause, the result was devastating damage to the entire city of Chicago. What became of the city after this horrific event? Well ironically, the fire cleared the way for a newer, much improved Chicago. Ten years after the fire, the city population had nearly doubled. Twenty years later, the Windy City was home to over 1 million people and featured the world’s first true skyscrapers. And maybe the most ironic fact is that the site where the O’Leary barn once stood now hosts the training academy of the Chicago Fire Department. Please take Fire Safety and Fire Prevention seriously. Protect yourself and your family by educating yourself and being prepared. #thegreatchicagofire #fireprevention #fireservice #firesafety #firesafetytips #firesafetytraining #smokealarms #fireprotection #residentialhomefires #unattendedcookingfires #stoplossllc #firesupression #preventhefirestoptheloss #nationalfirepreventionweek #nationalfireprventionmonth #stoplossva #stoplossllc

DID YOU KNOW… there’s a difference between an emergency response plan and an emergency management plan? 🚨 An emergency response plan focuses on immediate actions during a crisis—like how to evacuate or provide first aid. It’s all about handling the situation in real time. ⏱️ On the other hand, an emergency management plan is broader, covering preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. It helps organizations prevent emergencies, minimize damage, and ensure a smooth recovery afterward. 🛡️ Both are critical, but they serve different purposes in keeping people and property safe! #EmergencyPreparedness #CrisisManagement #StaySafe #EmergencyResponse #SafetyFirst #BCA

2moI passed that on the road while it was taking place. It is a relief to know that no one was in actual danger. It is also a relief to know that this unit chooses to train in the most difficult “game time” conditions. Thank you!
