Did you know that libraries in the Sandwell Council Borough open their doors to anyone from the community who would like some company and a hot drink? What a simple but effective initiative! 😊 We were approached by Michael Wragg from Sandwell Council with a call to action for donations of mugs for the libraries, so that they can continue to provide this much needed service. We answered the call and donated brand new coffee mugs and travel cups. If you would like to donate mugs to this wonderful cause, please do reach out to Michael Wragg.

Ninety-four percent of the Scripture engaged reported giving something to charity in the past year and their median amount of giving was $2,000. By contrast, among the “movable middle” defined as those who score between 70 and 99 on the Scripture Engagement Scale, just 75% donated to charity and their median donation was $288. Less than half of the “Bible disengaged” (43%), referring to those who score less than 70 on the Scripture Engagement Scale, gave to charity and their median amount of giving was $0. This means that more than half of respondents in this category did not donate to charitable causes. https://lnkd.in/ghU_rbzR

Donating can be such a fulfilling experience, and there are so many ways to make a positive impact! 💖 We've all dropped off clothing at local charities, but what if you have larger items like a piano or an armoire? 🎹🛋️ National organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity often offer pick-up services for furniture in good condition, just check in your area. It's been almost 10 years since I took the 10% Pledge with Giving What We Can What is it? A public commitment to donate 10% of your income to effective charities for the rest of one's life. Why did I do it? I am privileged in many ways and donating 10% of my income will make a huge difference to 1000s of people, with little impact on my day-to-day living. Feels like a no-brainer! How does it feel? Although I didn't do it for selfish reasons, donating 10% of my income has given me sense of pride and achievement. No matter what else I do with my life, I have donated ten's of thousands of pounds to charities that are considered some of the most effective in the world. I am not saying this to boast - I really am privileged in many ways (e.g. having frugal mindset) so taking the pledge was not as hard for me as I imagine it is for most people. If you are curious, feel free to ask questions, or, just check out their website.
