The St. James Parish STEM Fest, presented by STEM Global Action, took place on Thursday, June 27th at Lutcher High School. The event, which was free and open to the public, was made possible through a generous partnership with The Mosaic Company. Students in grades K-12 had the opportunity to design, build, and engage with 60 different STEM activities, including creating elephant toothpaste and slime, observing a live sheep heart dissection, riding a hovercraft, and constructing rockets. Throughout the morning, participants learned about various topics such as wind energy, solar energy, coding, designing, and programming robots. Attendees also had the chance to build and test their own battery-powered cars. Special thanks also to St. James Parish Public School System and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Led by founder, visionary and CEO Calvin Mackie, PhD, the mission of STEM Global Action is to expose, engage, and inspire future innovators, creators, makers and entrepreneurs.
