"Mosaic has been able to adapt and use its Governance Assembly to position the grants in a way that reads the moment, and I think that's part of what having a powerful Governance Assembly is capable of doing."- Mosaic Governance Assembly member Mosaic is a leading participatory grant maker in the US, led by a Governance Assembly comprised of a significant and broad segment of the leadership of the climate and environmental movement. This provides a unique perspective that, combined with a uniquely large dataset thanks to our open grantmaking process, positions Mosaic to be responsive to the needs of a large, sprawling movement like few can. #MovementInfrastructure #EnvironmentalLeadership #ClimateAction

It was great speaking today during the official opening session of the Youth Environment Assembly at the UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi, on behalf of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network. The Global Youth Environment Assembly (GYEA) convened by the Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP is a testament of youth driven collaboration and advocacy. Rooted in the imperative of meaningful youth engagement, this assembly provides a unique platform for young environmental enthusiasts and policy advocates worldwide to converge, exchange ideas, and influence global environmental agenda. Building up on the success of its inaugural edition in 2022, ahead UNEA 5.2 and UNEP@50, the Global YEA continues to gain momentum as a cornerstone of youth engagement in environmental governance. With the 2024 edition strategically scheduled ahead of OECPR and UNEA6, the assembly will play a pivotal role in aligning youth perspectives and priorities with the overarching theme of "Effective, Inclusive, and Sustainable Multilateral Actions." The Global YEA 2024 will bring to Nairobi over 300 youth in-person from across the world and aims to amplify their voices in the global environmental decision making platform, catalyze innovation, and foster collaboration towards a more just, equitable, and sustainable future. With intergenerational equity as a guiding principle, the assembly stands poised to make significant strides in advancing environmental multilateralism and ensuring that youth remain at the forefront of global efforts to address environmental challenges. At the opening session,we seek to have a fusion of high level keynote addresses from invited guests and capacity development of the youth delegates to make them acquainted with the Children and Youth Major Group to UNEP and its thematic focuses. #youthassembly #planetarycrisis

Meet Aspen Future Leader and Alumni Committee Member Orion Camero! 🌺 Orion currently works as the Action Lead Program Manager at Narrative Initiative and as the Creative Director at The Callegory. Orion recently was selected to be a Guest Lecturer at Stanford University’s Environmental Justice Colloquium! Orion is most proud of their work in climate justice, where they have been passionate about ensuring agency and access for marginalized communities in determining their futures-- while sparking collective reflection on the root causes of these issues. What Orion is most proud of is that their arts activism and advocacy have drawn parallels and built power from the local to global. One example of this is when Orion helped to nurture a mass youth movement countering corporate water privatization in California, having successfully stopped infrastructure from being built due to equity concerns. Another is that their organizing has changed the public narrative around the international climate negotiations: working with others, Orion has highlighted how necessary Indigenous ecological knowledge is while activating critical thinking around hollow, greenwashed solutions that serve the status quo. What gives Orion the deepest joy, however, is continuing to embody how essential creativity is in facilitating cross-sectoral and collaborative movements for change-- this is seen through the Callegory, an arts activism and narrative organizing project for inter-sectional justice that Orion serves as Creative Director of. For those looking to become leaders in the climate space, Orion would invite people to be curious, stay humble, and learn from the variety of ways the climate justice movement is made up of. Find your niche by exploring and feeling what role you want to play makes you passionate and engaged in this work for the long term! Orion recommends that we remember that we are in an ensemble cast of solutionaries and change-makers, and be open to considering the many approaches and perspectives that colleagues have while forming your own. Many hands make for light work, and lean into the simultaneous knowing that your contribution matters and that it is welcome alongside a spectrum of social change efforts. Remember that we are inheriting a massive and collective set of issues ahead of us, and that we need community to assure us that we can build that better world together and we can support each other's well-being along the way to get there. #futureleaders #aspenfutureleader #AspenIdeasClimate #FutureClimateLeader #youthclimate #youthclimateconference #climateconference #climateleader #youthclimateleader
