Most of my articles tend to focus on positive, upbeat events in Israel and the Jewish world--sports, music, Taglit-Birthright Israel, disabilities inclusion, Jewish camping, etc. This Jerusalem Post opinion piece is one I wish I didn't have to write: https://lnkd.in/eQU4Mcbt.

Ganesh Chaturthi is more than a religious celebration—it’s an economic equalizer thoughtfully designed by our ancestors. The festival brings people from all walks of life together, fostering an ecosystem where artisans, vendors, and laborers all benefit economically. From idol makers to street food sellers, the festivities ensure that economic opportunities are distributed across all social classes. Historically, our ancestors crafted festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi to serve as a course correction for economic inequality. By centering community-driven activities, they created a platform where everyone, regardless of social standing, could earn and participate. The traditions embedded in such festivals serve as powerful reminders of how cultural practices can stimulate local economies while also addressing social equity. #GaneshChaturthi #EconomicEquality #TraditionAndEconomy #CulturalEconomics #SocialInclusion

#independencedaycelebrations# In the past, our Independence Day was marked by traditional displays of patriotism—homes adorned with flags, educational broadcasts honoring the sacrifices of our heroes, and a collective sense of national pride.❤️❤️ These rituals were deeply rooted in our shared history and values. 👍👍🌟🌟 Today, celebrations seem to have evolved into more exuberant and sometimes chaotic forms—road blockages, loud music, and high-energy festivities. 😔😔 Especially this "baaja tradition" 🤷🤷 While these activities are vibrant and reflect a different kind of enthusiasm, they prompt us to ask: Is this the direction we want our patriotic celebrations to take? As we navigate these changes, it’s crucial to remember the core values of our independence—unity, sacrifice, and the spirit of service. Let’s channel our celebrations into activities that honor our history and build a future we can be proud of. How did you celebrate your Independence Day this year? Let’s celebrate with purpose and pride! #IndependenceDay #Patriotism #ReflectingOnTradition #CelebratingOurHeritage

Muslims praying in a church. Not in just any church but in the Cologne Cathedral, which was built from 1248 until 1880 and was the tallest building in Europe for nine years replaced by the Eifel Tower in Paris in 1889. The Cologne Cathedral is much more than any old sight in the city center for us in Cologne. As we like to say:"Home is where the Dom is" ❤️ This picture was taken on February 3, 1965, nearly 50 years ago. The month of Ramadan ended, which Muslims traditionally celebrate with a festive prayer. In Cologne, however, there was still no mosque for the almost 2,000 "guest workers" from Turkey, nor any other suitable premises for several hundred people. The Cologne Cathedral Chapter therefore made space available in the north aisle of the cathedral. The imam thanked the host Catholics for their fraternely gesture and, at the end of his preach, he had money collected for the restoration of the cathedral. A beautiful gesture that shows how living well together can succeed. Why post this on Linkedin? At the end of the day it's a "professional" social media plattform, which reminds me of Facebook in 2012, just a little more eloquent. 😁 As with the arise of these plattforms societies are more divided by political, religious, economically and other beliefs. It is also our responsibility not to give the reason only to the "toxic algoritmhs". Moreover it is in our power to engage with the content which unify us as human beings. ✌🏻 #Ramadan #Diversity

Most orgs don’t consider religion when creating their DEI strategic plans and miss out on embracing and utilizing a critical component of their staff and community members’ lives. Ramadan begins on March 10 this year, which means Muslims will be fasting from sunrise to sunset. This is one of the key pillars of Islam. Are you considering how this practice will impact your Muslim staff and their capacity during this month? Please read this article and incorporate its advice into your office space so you can properly support your Muslim staff and community members.
