Infineon announced availability of the industry’s first radiation-hardened (rad hard) 1 and 2 Mb parallel interface ferroelectric-RAM (F-RAM) nonvolatile memory devices. These additions to Infineon’s extensive portfolio of memories feature unsurpassed reliability and endurance, with up to 120 years of data retention at 85-degree Celsius, along with random access and full memory write at bus speeds. The 2 Mb density F-RAM with SPI is the first in its family of rad hard non-volatile F-RAMs. The devices have virtually infinite endurance with no wear leveling, with 10 trillion read/write cycles and 120 years data retention at 85°C, at an operating voltage range of 2.0 V to 3.6 V.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) designated three historical MIT Lincoln Laboratory technologies as IEEE Milestones. The technologies are the Mode S air traffic control (ATC) radar beacon system, 193-nanometer (nm) photolithography, and the semiconductor laser. The latter recognition is shared by Lincoln Laboratory, General Electric, and IBM. As the world's largest technical professional organization, the IEEE's mission is to "advance technology for the benefit of humanity."
