What do you think is going on with this ESP? The well was operating on current regulator mode to fix the producing amp around 47 amps with frequency range (48-51) hz but a progressive increase in the Pump intake pressure was observed with severe fluctuations in the motor current. The ESP running mode was converted to fixed frequency of 52 hz with no change with the ESP performance and the intake continued to build up. the frequency increased to 55 hz with no impact on the intake. the motor temperature increased gradually from 284 F to 296 F, the PIP increased from 700 psi to 950 psi. #petroleumengineering #productionoptimization #productdevelopment #Electric_Submersible_Pumps #oilandgas #Production_Technology #artificiallift #ESP

Do you have shroud, intake is lower than perforations level?

Solids production. I would like to see vibration profile.

It's better to know production rates, increasing the PIP could be from intake plug or partial plug

Is there any y-tool? What about the wellhead pressure...has it declined or rose up?

it looks like gas lock

The relevant parameters investigation showed that there is some thing inhibiting and restricting fluid flow into the pump periodically and divided into two reasons (partial plugging or gas lock) depending on more informations about history of both production data & down hole parameters, fluid composition, bubble point pressure and also Esp design specially impeller type

What about the THP? However, This can lead to a pump broken shaft or tubing leakage but you should perform a well test to confirm the drop of production

Gas locking problem due to high motor cúrrent variation and obviously PIP and TM raised. I suggest to choke the wing valve in order to gain tubing pressure and release fluid periodically. The gas will compress and become mixed with liquid. It is high probably that downhole trends will stabilize a few hours later. Nevertheless, it is relevant to keep monitoring the performance of ESP.

Seems to be plugging in intake

This is gas lock and to start free cycle mode , what about the Production Rate ?
