Wow, surprising news from the 🇺🇸. Chase to open new branches and to hire more staff. Read on👇 At first sight, quite a surprising announcement by Chase , a respected leader in #BankingInnovation in the US. Here is what the bank is planning to do by 2027: ☝ open 500+ new branches across US, ☝ renovate 1,700+ existing branches, ☝ create 3,500+ jobs. However, the above plans don't seem to be in line with cutting costs by shifting customer engagement to m-banking applications. Chase are well aware of the investment needed, and even want to focus on low-income and rural communities. Citi have announced 20,000 job cuts ... what does this mean for hiring in 2024? And how does this affect you? From what we have heard these cuts are part of the usual restructuring that large banks go through, and while the headline figure is pretty horrifying, these will be global cuts and represent circa 10% of the workforce, and due over the next 3 years. Other banks have seen much of their cuts come through natural attrition. The RCQ Associates - Financial Markets Specialists house view for hiring in 2024 is for a significantly busier year than 2023, evidenced by new roles created in December, and over double the volume of new roles in the first 2 weeks of 2024. Yes there may be more competition for new roles as people feel more confident to look again. But there still remains a shortage of good candidates in certain technical specialisms, particularly so at Associate, AVP and junior VP levels. For MD/SD level roles - there are more people looking than open roles. Bonus pools? The power in this market has shifted back to the employer so expect to see slightly smaller bonuses as there is less of a fear of losing certain staff and natural attrition of staff isn't seen as such a worry as it was in 2021/2, but from what we are hearing bonus pools remain relatively resilient across many banks. #hiring #marketoutlook #financialmarkets #financialservices

🔔NATWEST GROUP OPEN HIRING EVENT🔔 **Reflections on the Women Hiring Event at NatWest Bengaluru** Today, I had the opportunity to attend a walk-in drive organized by NatWest Bengaluru, specifically focused on hiring talented women for roles in CDD, EDD, and AML. This event was a great initiative, and it was inspiring to see over 200 women present, eager to showcase their skills and experiences. Candidates traveled long distances, some commuting 20-30 kms, and arrived as early as 8 AM to participate in this significant hiring event. However, it was disheartening to learn that all candidates were rejected without specific feedback. While the outcome was not what many of us had hoped for, this experience highlights the importance of resilience in our professional journeys. Each experience, whether successful or not, contributes to our growth and learning.
