In rural Malawi, walking is a lifeline that ensures families stay connected to care. mothers2mothers community health worker Jessie does an average of 8,000 steps each morning, delivering vital health services to her clients door-to-door in their communities. Setting out at 8am, it takes Jessie just under an hour to reach the first village where she conducts around 10 home visits. She then walks for another 20 minutes to reach the next village where she does 10 more visits before heading home. This #WorldWalkingDay join us in celebrating the power of walking to ensure the people who need it most get the care they need from someone they trust!

Today is mothers2mothers birthday—a great day to celebrate our tremendous growth in scale, scope, and impact over the last 23 years! mothers2mothers started at a single site in Cape Town, South Africa, with a few frontline staff focused on preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV and keeping mothers alive. Today... 👩🏽 We employ nearly 1,200 women living with HIV as community health workers... 🌍... who work at hundreds of health centres and communities across 11 African countries. 👪🏽 These Mentor Mothers provide primary health care, education, and support to ensure women and families get the care they need. 🙌 mothers2mothers has achieved virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV among our enrolled client for 10 years in a row, with a transmission rate of 0% in 2023!
