Today is my birthday (32 but mentally always 27) and we're about to wrap up the year so I've sat down and reflected on the year that was 2023 - its been a big one!!
At the beginning of the year, I was employed as a recruiter for another business. My brain had started ticking and I started to think about the huge potential recruitment companies have in terms of adding further value to their clients. I had also started listening to the Confessions of a Recruiter podcast. So after a few twists and turns, come July, I started my journey to bring some of my ideas to life.
Since then, my journey has been, well a journey!!! I have:
- Set up Kairos Recruitment, focusing on Start-Up, Scale-Up & impact driven businesses. Defined and built some amazing points of differences in our services (ask me about them)
- Started Australia's Tech Start-Up Ecosystem, with the vision which is still very much in the process of being built, to create an online Ecosystem for founders to collaborate, share ideas, and grow faster and better together
- Run the first Melbourne's Tech Start-Up Ecosystem: thank you Annette Rose, Phil Ore, and Graham McCorkill for being our first speakers. Also to Rick Giner & EverestEngineering for supporting and sponsoring the event. And our support crew Asmita Govind & Trevor Brunton!
- Off the back of being utterly inpsired by this ecosystem, I turned what was a small side business idea called The Resume Renovator, into Mployd, a start-up with the vision of being the go-to platform in APAC for Job Seeker Support
- So then I joined FounderLab, an accountability cohort of sorts for Tech Start Up founders, run by Ryan Griffin & Joe Young and alongside • Charlie Crozier • Roselle de Kruijk Mantas Aleks ✊ 🇺🇦 Josh Sprague and Johnny Wen and got my first pitch rep in
- Also got accepted into an Start-Up Accelerator for 2024
- Been a guest on a Podcast, thank you Edan Haddock 🐟 and Rubberband. The recruitment network for all for providing a platform for our community
- Started posted mostly every day on LinkedIn and saw my community grow as a result!
- Learnt how to build websites, register a business, figure out how to do my own accounting, create my own GPTs, DIYed and then paid someone to do my branding, starting dabbling with growing in public, and learnt many lessons along the way on various aspects of business - I also must've registered for 10,000 free resources and webinars
- I've also met some bloody cool people that are doing their own thing and I imagine will be big parts of my life moving forward as we all go on our own journies: Asmita Govind Matt Woodard Alyna Pham Laura Morellon Rebecca Roberts Lyndal Hamwood Natalia Tapia 🌈 + everyone I've already mentioned, and honestly there are quite a few more that are going to be stuck with me!
If that was 2023, bring on 2024!! I've got so much more to learn and so much more to nail down but can't wait for whats to come! ❤️
Fantastic achievement making it to the finals!
