How Additive Manufacturing Transforms Decision-Making in Real-Time At the US Army War College Futures Lab, we’re constantly exploring how additive manufacturing reshapes the supply chain and decision-making processes. A great example? We created a new foot for our 3D printer using Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), a flexible filament that allows for rapid prototyping and on-demand part creation. The attached photo shows the lost foot from our 3D printer and the replacements printed in action. This small innovation highlights how 3D printing reduces dependency on traditional supply chains, offering the flexibility to adapt and solve problems in real time. Parts that cost more money and days or even weeks to replace can be modeled and printed in MINUTES—making a significant impact on operational efficiency and resilience. The possibilities are endless. #AdditiveManufacturing #3DPrinting #FuturesLab #SupplyChainInnovation #ArmyTech #OnDemandProduction #InnovationInAction #Innovation #Creativity #USAWC #Army
