In just under two weeks, Motivo is hosting the first-ever Behavioral Health Workforce Summit in Washington, DC. We're bringing together the brightest minds to discuss the ongoing, national behavioral health worker shortage. We'll be joined by none other than Dr. Shereef Elnahal, our Under Secretary for Health at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Accompanied by a roster of over two dozen speakers, our agenda is stacked with solution-focused dialogue. Together, we'll get into the weeds on all topics surrounding the behavioral health worker shortage. Our BHW Summit is taking place on May 30th and is led by the most impactful leaders across the mental health industry... and we can't wait to get started.

Mental Health & Mindfulness I Psychedelics Access & Insurance I Jungian Coach & Integration I Public Speaker I Healthcare Strategy & Consulting I Guest Lecture I Forum Award for Emerging Female Leader I 20 under 40
Grateful and honored to share that Enthea was selected for the 2023 Global Recognition Award! I am so proud of the team's tireless dedication to spreading awareness & education, reducing stigma, sharing the clinical research and building the infrastructure to support employee access to psychedelic assisted therapy. As someone who has healed tremendously from these therapies, this is a purpose-led mission through The Sage Collective to help create affordable access to so many others that may not only benefit, but change their life through true healing. I spent more than 16 years working with self funded employers and unions, digging deep into claims data. I know all too well that we need a better way. SSRIs and talk therapy can be helpful, but for some (like myself), they weren't enough. Employers and unions need a new approach and employees / members are asking for better mental health care. Many are finding these therapies on their own - not always through the best sources and putting themselves in tough situations financially. We have legal options readily available that employers can cover now, as well as others in the approval process. It's important to add that psychedelics are not a panacea - but they can help get to the root cause of suffering and facilitate healthy, lasting changes in the brain. In my experience, they are also a catalyst to healthier coping mechanisms and mindfulness - like yoga, meditation, art, etc. - which help to sustain and continue to improve mental health. CEO of Enthea | Mental Health | Psychedelic Therapy | Alleviating Human Suffering | Poverty Reduction |
Initially, I held back from sharing a certain piece of news, wary of it seeming self-promotional. However, upon reflection, I understand that this isn't just my story – it's a testament to the incredible work of our team, the unwavering support of our partners, the dedication of our providers, and the trust of our customers and supporters. It's about us, all together So, allow me to finally share that Enthea was selected for the 2023 Global Recognition Award. Again, this achievement is largely due to the dedication and innovation of the team. Their passion and commitment are the driving forces behind our mission to revolutionize mental health care, particularly within the workplace. We are deeply committed to offering solutions that address the root causes of mental health issues, fostering genuine healing and growth. This accolade also marks a significant shift. It’s a sign that the broader business community is starting to acknowledge the vital need for comprehensive, effective mental health solutions for their employees. Receiving this award is not just about celebrating a milestone; it’s a poignant reminder of the impact we can create collectively. The future looks bright, filled with opportunities to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our incredible team, our partners, and everyone who supports our vision. This recognition belongs to each one of you. Collaboration is key to navigating the barriers that often stand in the way of accessing quality treatment in the addiction and mental health field. By working together—treatment providers, community organizations, and advocates—we can create a network of support that ensures individuals receive the care they need. This collective effort helps break down obstacles like stigma, limited resources, and gaps in services, making recovery more accessible for everyone. Great list of action items here.
A valuable resource! Three respected researchers and practitioners with lived experience (Jeremy Reuling, Rita Cronise, and Jessica Wolf) have developed "Listening to the Peer Workforce," an Action Agenda identifying ten peer support workforce priorities and recommended actions. The Action Agenda can be used both to improve stakeholders’ understanding of challenges faced by the peer workforce, and as a guide to specific strategies to address them effectively at all stakeholder levels.

"In the heart of every mission-driven profession lies a paradox: the same empathy and dedication that fuel our work often also lead us to neglect our well-being. The nature of mission-driven work, whether in healthcare, education, social work, humanitarian work, and so many other professions dedicated to serving others, demands a high level of empathy, commitment, and emotional labor, leading many to put their own needs on the back burner. However, what most of us learn the hard way is that working this way isn’t sustainable over the long term, and no matter how much we think we’re compartmentalizing ourselves, without strong boundaries around our time, energy, and resources, our ability to serve others begins to lose efficacy over time. As we learn more about how trauma seeps into organizational culture, it’s important for individuals and organizations to understand that boundary-setting in the workplace isn’t an indulgence—it’s a necessity for sustainable service, and a testament to our commitment to ourselves, to our work, and to the people we serve." Khanna Connections | Publicist, Strategic Comms, Media Marketing | EIC of The Well of PBC | Khanna House Studios | Podcast & Content Creation Studio
See which of your neighbors and colleagues contributed to another powerful edition of The Well of PBC! We are the county's largest behavioral health magazine. Email us at thewell@bewellpbc.org to see how you can get involved too! As a community-directed publication, we are continually seeking new perspectives, resources and recommendations to enrich the lives of our community. We do this through our Source column where we encourage our readers to email us with their favorite podcasts, books, documentaries, apps, groups, social media accounts and other suggestions and we also accomplish this end by working with our distribution partners - individuals and groups who believe in the work we do and wish to shine a brighter spotlight on it. I would like to thank our distribution partners for their investment and engagement in The Well of PBC. Their commitment not only expands our reach but also enables us to work together to further amplify the voices and concerns of our residents. If you are interested in joining us on our journey to transform the behavioral health landscape of Palm Beach County, I encourage you to email our marketing manager Katrina Blackmon at: katrina@bewellpbc.org. This issue, we honor September as National Recovery Month - recommitting ourselves to the prevention of substance misuse and highlighting the importance of evidence-based treatment and recovery. We commend the resilience of both those in recovery and those whose tireless support, love and encouragement makes recovery possible. Enrichment through engagement is the backbone of my communications philosophy. To truly understand a system, process or culture at a granular level, you need to get in the neighborhoods and engage with the people who are making sustainable change a reality as well as the people whose realities are being changed. A collaborative relationship built on trust, mutual respect and a shared vision means that we are able to learn more. Learning more means building the capacity to do more and in turn, that leads to doing better. For the Well of PBC and for our most important stakeholders - the residents of Palm Beach County. The Three Horizons framework is typically used to think about the future. What is great about this version is that it recognizes the importance of how we go to this point. Many social issues have a deep embedded "memory" that they bring with them from past experiences - for example, trauma - and we need to first recognize this and work to address it before we can constructively move forwards. The graphic we share here is from our publication Seeding Futures for Wellbeing and reimagines the Three Horizons framework as creating different conditions for seeding futures.
