BWT Alpine F1 Team heads to Spielberg for Round 11 of the 2024 FIA F1 World Championship, the Austrian Grand Prix. Esteban Ocon says: I have always liked racing in Austria. I have some fond memories here. Back in 2020, after a year out from racing, racing in Spielberg was the first one of the season. I remember the very wet Qualifying that year when we managed to qualify in fifth. In 2022, we had a good weekend here, taking ten points in fifth place. The track itself is short so usually the field is close and every hundredth and thousandth of a second counts. We have to get our high speed balance right and the aim for us is keep the positive trend going, which means an eye on Q3 again and, of course, valuable points. Pierre Gasly also says: Triple headers are always challenging. After Barcelona we’re straight into Austria and for a busy Sprint weekend. Spielberg is a short lap, the shortest for lap times during the year, with only nine corners. It’s a challenging one with kerbs, hard braking zones and a lot of high-speed corners. It’s always a very good event in Austria, a great atmosphere and a place I have enjoyed racing. We must take our learnings from Barcelona – especially high speed performance and balance – and apply them here this weekend. As it’s a Sprint we have to be on the pace straight away and put ourselves in a position to compete in both races. Did you know, Alpine performed its three fastest pitstops of the 2024 season in the Spanish Grand Prix. BWT Alpine F1 Team heads to Silverstone for Round 12 of the 2024 FIA F1 World Championship, the British Grand Prix with Pirelli C1, C2 and C3 tyres. Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly preview the team’s home race and the final round of an intense European triple header. Esteban says, The British Grand Prix is one of the best weekends of the year for a Formula 1 driver. The atmosphere is electric, and the fans are so knowledgeable and passionate, plus the circuit is super enjoyable to drive! It is a classic circuit with fast and flowing corners, which really test the limit of both car and driver. It is also a home race for the team, so it is a venue you always want to go well at and give staff at Enstone something to cheer about. The characteristics of the track are more similar to what we saw in Spain than in Austria. Weather also plays a part at Silverstone, so let’s see what the British Summer throws up this time! Pierre, Silverstone is one of the best circuits for a driver on the calendar in terms of pure driving sensations. It’s fast, high-speed, a place where the car is at its limit through some of the corners and that is just so much fun at the wheel. The racing is usually exciting as there are a number of places to overtake. I will start my weekend in Free Practice 2 as I hand over driving duties to Jack Doohan for the first session. We are changing power unit elements on my car, which will bring a penalty for the Grand Prix, so this is a logical solution to ensure Jack completes his mandatory rookie outings. BWT Alpine F1 Team heads to Circuit of Spa Francorchamps s.a. for Round 14 of the 2024 FIA F1 World Championship, the Belgian Grand Prix. Esteban Ocon: After racing in F1 for a number of years, it is still an incredible feeling to be racing at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps where I made my Formula 1 debut back in 2016. It is a classic track and the longest on the calendar, which makes it a unique test for us drivers with its long straights and variety of corners. The weather always comes into play in Belgium especially considering the size of the track and how conditions can vary from one section of the circuit to another. This means that strategy will be key for the race, and we need to work as one to make the right calls and have a successful weekend. Pierre Gasly: We are aiming for a much better weekend in Spa to see us into the summer shutdown. We went well last year, finishing third in the Sprint, which was an amazing result. It’s a standard weekend format this time around and after the tough previous events, we are incredibly determined to perform the best we can. I love racing this track, it’s one of my favourites, but the feelings I have here are always going to be contrasting. The first half of 2024 has been difficult for everyone, at the factory and at the track, but we’re in a much better place than we were in Bahrain, and we can improve more.
