Performance Evaluation of the Mercedes-Benz EQS: Insights into Peak Performance! Our Mercedes-Benz EQS has undergone a demanding test procedure with repeated full-load acceleration up to Vmax and braking maneuvers to a standstill. These intensive tests shed a fascinating light on the interrelationships of the drive architecture derating strategy. There is virtually no recognizable loss of performance at higher SOC values. However, a noticeable drop in performance is recorded from 28 repetitions and a battery level below 68 % SOC. The decrease is independent of the SOC of the battery but shows a correlation with increasing temperature of the HV battery and the inverter. After a short cooling phase accompanied by a drop in battery temperature, the power increases almost to the starting level. These results not only provide insights into the performance of the EQS, but also give an insight into the extensive testing strategy of the AVL Global Vehicle Benchmark Program. BMW of North America, LLC had me in a spin with this rather unique 2024 i4 xDrive 40 for a week. Aside from the gorgeous shade of Individual Mora Metallic, this i4 is very unique as you can’t even get a 40 xDrive in Germany as of my filming.
